I know our club website isn't the best but surely news like this would have been broken by the club. I hope it isn't true but like you say it will be very sad news if it is.
Wonderful player. Reminds me very much of John Stones. This write up on the Grimsby site summed him up perfectly http://mobile.grimsby-townfc.co.uk//news/article/2016-17/r.i.p.-paul-futcher-3433627.aspx
What would have been the all time perfect highlight of his career would have been to see that screamer fly past Neville Southall.
What dreadfully sad news. As others have already said, Paul was a truly wonderful, classy player. R.I.P. to a true great of Barnsley Football Club. <img src ="http://i.ebayimg.com/images/a/(KGrHqFHJEgFDTD1B)B6BQ5KYtEeng~~/s-l300.jpg">
Paul and Clive Baker kept us up between them with little quality help from elsewhere for several seasons in the 80s.
RIP Futch , still remember that penalty shoot out at Blackpool . Futch s was like a backpass . A great servent to a great club
Not a player to enthuse those who want their heroes to run about like headless chickens as he wasn't the fastest player on the pitch but his reading of the ball was sublime and he had a great ability to be there when it came over. He just oozed class.
Apart from against West Brom (i think) when he superbly cushioned the ball for a back pass into our own net past a Clive Baker who had zero chance of stopping it. Just trying to bring a smile about the place for what will be a real downer for many a reds fan
What sad news this is, one of my all time favourite players. He was a fantastic defender, probably the best I've seen in my time watching BFC. RIP Paul, BFC legend.
RIP Paul Futcher, one of the best defenders ever seen in a Reds' shirt. Sincere condolences to all his family and friends. Sad, sad news!
