Talking about the sad state of football because a club can come in with a £30k a week offer to a player and that forces teams like Barnsley to sell. Wrong wrong wrong. A club comes in with an offer to the club not the player. Only THEN does the club make a £30k a week free to the player. Be under no illusions, Barnsley aren't selling hourihane because villa offered him high wages. Villa offered him high wages because we were selling him
It's incredibly naive to assume that Villa approached Barnsley before they approached Hourihane's agent.
It is incredibly illegal for Aston villa to have approached Connor hourihanes agent with a wage figure before approaching Barnsley.
Ok so let's say villa contacted hourihane and offered him £5m a day. How does that force us to sell him? It doesn't.
It is incredibly illegal for Aston villa to have approached Connor hourihanes agent it doesnt force barnsley to sell him agreed....but it answers your question....ie... it happens
It is very rare that the player asks to move.......although that does happen. Modern footy is controlled by agents .........they have a duty (so they say) to get their client the best possible deal and they will use any means to do that. All this moaning about well its illegal to tap players up is a farce, just like driving 35 in a 30 zone..... it happens. It has been a fairly well known scenario that Winnall wanted to play at the highest level possible..............in agent speak.......... that means circulate his name and get him some dosh (which he has achieved). Sheffield Wednesday have not tapped up Winnall, this has been achieved by his agent. The disappointing thing for me is we as a club took the first offer that came along, how do we know that that was the best offer for our club? Because I think we have 3 more weeks on this and if he has to go then he goes at a price that the club fixes...................I maybe well out here but Linton leaving smells bad to me.............I think Patrick has got wind and asked him to o the honourable thing and fall on his sword, having seen how the Winnall deal has been handled.
I didn't ask a question. I said that hourihane is offered money because Barnsley are selling, we aren't selling because he was illegally offered monry
They don't even have to contact the player... just put it out there in the media that 28K/week is on the table... job done
Villa tell Nixon, nixon puts it in the paper, Conor's agent phones Nixon and asks his sources and he says Villa chairman. Jobs a good un.
If they are actually saying that, then that is slander. If Aston Villa haven't done anything of the sort, Radio Sheffield need to be very careful what they say.
Just because a fee wasn't necessarily agreed, it doesn't mean the club haven't previously given them permission to speak to Conor. That said, I'm pretty sure he will have a good idea of what's on offer, via his agent. It's wrong, but it's common nowadays.
Think a lot of it actually starts with the agent. Agents I believe are doing murky work in the wings - through approaches to clubs advising what their clients are looking for, contract left and position of club to player such as if getting game time. In interest of agents to get as many moves per player they can as get extras for signing on fees. They are not in it for the good of the player. Prestige and profit floats their boats!!! Worst thing ever to come into the game in my opinion
