Not sure how I feel about that. Annoyed with Sam for engineering the move but would like the excellent add ons we are supposed to have. hurts to say it, but I think that £ for £ the swine did the best bit of transfer dealing for the whole window on that one IMO don't use him and they've only paid 500K which they'll easily get back when they sell him. Plus it helps disrupt a rival. Sam comes good and they'll drop us a few bones from the Premiership table. Terrific bit of business by them
Maybe they will get promoted. Doesn't matter if he never plays again this season. We apparently get something if they go up. you say they will offload him easily. But they were the only team in for him and will anyone else be prepared to pay him 18k pw.
Plus the £2.8m they have to pay him during his contract. Plus any rises/bonuses. And if they choose to sell him they have to pay him up. Would hardly call that good business!
Shocked that anyone would want that club to do well, even if it is so we get incentives. No amount of for example promotion clause would soften the blow of them being promoted. No amount of scoring bonus would make up for the extra millions they would make off him if they sold him.
I understand and share some of the animosity towards Winnall but isn`t the bigger picture that we have been stripped of our most potent striker in several years? Takes a bit of the gloss off the fact that he may not get much of a look in at Wednesday.
In hindsight I think Wednesday were the only team in for Winnall and they were never going to offer huge money because they probably knew all along they were getting Rhodes. For me we did the right thing taking the money to build towards next season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They won't go up. I said that when they took him on and nowt's made me change my opinion. Too many other bigger, stronger sides up there that don't rely on the massive slices of luck the Fritzls have enjoyed recently. Much like Conor & Bree, we can look forward to welcoming them all back to Oakwell at least once next season.
Come August he'll be available for loan I reckon. Problem is there won't be many clubs to take him who'd be willing to pay a large chunk of 18k a week. He's going to be set up for life but I reckon his football career will stall big time. The main reason for working is to earn money so I guess that justifies his move.
see what you mean but for me if I was a footballer I would think life's too short and take a more balanced option, a bit less money but get to play, its not like any of them are on a pittance
They won't go up. The other 3 teams in the play offs are better than them & they'll definitely get over taken by Derby & possibly Fulham & Norwich
I agree 100% with you. If I were lucky enough to play football for a living I'd like to think that would be my stance. Agents are behind most of it. Money grabbing leeches the lot of em.....
Exactly. Us getting a bad deal doesn't necessarily mean they got a good one. The winners out of this were Winnall and his agent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Really hope we don't see a penny of add on money. For us to get any add on money would mean both Wendnesty and Winnall had to do well. Who the F**k wants that !!!!!!!
Bang on. Winnall chose money over personal progression and success. His agent sits at home with a nice wedge for doing **** all.
