Maybe. He would have either transformed him as he did many players (Kenny Burns being the prime example) or would have moved him on.
He's Looked good the few times I've seen him come on as sub. I've only seen him start four times and he's got a goal and an assist from those four.
Eight months since his last goal. Mind, that's abart same as Moncur so it shows the problems we have when your attacking players don't chip in with the goals.
He clearly struggles for fitness in the last 30 minutes. That doesn’t make him any less of a gol threat just makes him less able to protect his full back which is part of tbe role he is being asked to play. He has usually given all he can give in terms of effort and he struggles the last part of the game. Get him stood in the box and it doesn’t matter what minute it is but that’s not all he’s asked to do in the jose system.
I just don't get all this 'he's just not right in our system' or 'another manager may get more out of him' business. Whilst there may be an element of truth in those phrases, the only person responsible for GM's performances is GM. He is responsible for his fitness. He is responsible for his attitude. He is responsible for his teamwork. When I go to my boss and say: 'I know you want me to do things this way but it just doesn't suit my way of working, I know others are struggling but that's their problem not mine. I don't know what's wrong with you, you just can't seem to get the best out of me', I know what my bosses reaction would be. I don't know who our rising midfield talent is coming through the ranks but I'd be having a close look at him now. In a relegation scrap we need a worker, not a shirker!
George Moncur is our most talented player. All those who give him stick have clearly never played the game and have no idea about football. One of the first on the team sheet for me.
Forgive me if I don’t agree. A total show pony with a junior footballers attitude (it’s all about him) and questionable fitness levels
Dont think Hedges got a proper go at it missen, as soon as Barnes came he was dumped and has hed few chances since really. One of those players who seems to have been here years yet yer still dunt know if he`s got it or not.
Same thing was always said about Matt Le Tissier - never got the games for England because he didn't put a shift in and slide tackle like Terry Butcher - some people have no clue.
You wouldn’t mind if he was anywhere near as effective as Matt Le Tissier was. In any case, he’s a perfect example of an extremely talented player who didn’t have the extra level of graft to make him a true great. All great players have hard work in their game - well most. It’s not about slide tacking like Terry Butcher at all.
