I can’t comprehend how anyone can look at Liam Lindsay & Adam Jackson & think Jackson’s a superior player. I’ve said it before on here but most people don’t seem to realise it or haven’t noticed it but watch when we play, Lindsay’s the one who does all the talking & organising at the back. He was last season as well. Whoever plays alongside him does better than when they play alongside another centre back. I don’t think Jackson’s a bad player by the way I just think Lindsay’s significantly better.
Lindsay every day for me. However, I'd be surprised if we could bring in a better back up than Jackson.
I don't understand why Lindsay isn't made captain, as you say he is always communicating and organising the others.
Ok. Well in that case. First, I do like Lindsay. I think he’s capable at playing at a higher level but this season has got to see him develop and move onto a different level. He’s got the opportunity because the quality of this League is way below that of the Championship- and that wasn’t great. Two things. His level of concentration needs to improve. He’s not alone in that (Pinnock’s does to) but mostly his distribution has to vastly improve. Frankly it too often varies between poor and dreadful. I think he can improve and I hope he’s getting the coaching that can push him on as a professional footballer.
I think all three are decent centre halves and all have some limitations, as you'd expect from players in League 1. While ever we are in this division I wouldn't be looking to replace any of them. I think our fantastic defensive record is down to the tactics employed by the manager and the whole team's determination to see those tactics through, rather the strengths of individuals in the back four. We defend so high up the pitch and work so hard that our defence is rarely put under pressure, the opposition are rarely in our final third. Huge credit to the coaching staff and everyone in the team for that, from central defenders to strikers.
The difference to the defence this season besides the lower quality of opposition is Dougall operating in front of them, the amount of interceptions and getting a foot in to disrupt play has been very good, a definite plus this season IMO.
Jackson also seems to need a run of games to get the best out of him has his first couple are usually nervy performances, until he gets this run of games we wont see him at his best.
I agree with you I think Lindsay probley is the most vocal of the 3 I met pinnock after he got mom last season v Preston I think it was he came across as a nice lad but quiet. although I can see why stendal dropped lindsay static for scunnys goal got turned inside out when Oldham scored and poor for Coventrys goal. Pinnock would be the 1st center back on the team sheet for me been excellent so far this season but I'd put Lindsay next to him I think they have a decent partnership.
Jackson being right footed gives us balance. Lindsay not the best at distribution but steady. Pinnock was winning everything in the air especially the other day. All three stand out at this level when they are on their game. No real concerns whoever plays. All have been caught out at times this season but they are protected by Dougall being in front of them.
