My mate and I drive up from the soft expensive south for home games. We have been stopping off at Tankersley Manor for a pit stop before going on to the ground. It also gives us the opportunity to meet up with any away fans that we know (two from Bradford on Saturday). I went to the bar to order a large South African Sauvignon Blanc for my mate who wasn’t driving and the lass behind the bar replied “I need to warn you that’s £12.” All credit to her for telling me and we changed the order rapidly. That’s half as much again as the hotel in my southern village. Needless to say we’re looking for another pit stop venue. Any suggestions? By the way, the Bradford fans offered no excuses after the game and admitted we were too strong for them. Thanks for listening.
The Red Lion at Worsbrough would be Ok, big car park decent prices and food. 2 miles from junction 36 on the A61
If you ever get invited to a wedding there, the best plan is to take up smoking, and hide some bottles and cans in the bushes outside. That's what a "friend" told me. Disgraceful prices, can't fathom why anybody would want to go there.
Silkstone Inn for a cheap Wetherspoons. Once bought four pints and a soft drink in a round and had change from a tenner. Had to check if it was right and the bar man said it was and told me how he worked one year in the Royal Enclosure at Royal Ascot and it was six quid for a bottle of beer. Tankersley Manor can get away with it because it's seen as up market, helped by the number of our away teams who stay there the night before playing us.
I bet it was former BBS member "Guest 42" who told you that! The bushes in the smoking area outside the Holiday Inn in Dodworth are also very conveniently situated.
Used to work there. Amount of sh*t I used to get off people about the prices like it was me who was making them up.
