We're offering some very good money for players who's contracts runs out next summer. Unfortunately one of the lads has had his head turned that much he's refusing to speak to the club. I'm not mentioning names before anyone starts claiming I'm after attention.
We dont know anything unless this pjayer himself has told people he and his agent are refusing to talk to the club?
Money rules 99% of footballers’ decisions. Sadly we can’t compete if these players start getting interest from clubs higher up the ladder, or parachute payment ladder at least. Plenty will understandably moan if the club sell Pinnock or Lindsay from this side, but with twelve months left on their current deals, it’s difficult for the club to not cash in, and re-invest in a replacement.
If they’ve only twelve months left and won’t re-sign, they’ll be sold. I’ve no issue with that, makes sense.
I can't imagine Burnley offering 20k a week to be a third choice goalkeeper. According to this they currently have 5 goalkeepers on their roster. Joe Hart is expected to leave in the summer but I would also expect Tom Heaton or Nick Pope to follow him out the door. That would still leave Anders Lindegaard and Adam Legdzins on their roster.
I think its important to remember nearly all these players made the same choice to leave for more money and a "bigger club" when they signed for us. Won't be surprised if any of them take the chance to move on again, nor would I blame any of them either.
If we take the policy of selling all the guys who have one year left and won't sign an extension then we are in for a very hard season which will only have one outcome. We have to be a bit more streetwise than that. By the way, I'm totally out of the loop on this but does anyone have a clue what wages Barnsley pay at the top end, or might be prepared to pay in the Championship?
You just can't keep having an 8 or 9 player sale every other season, I think (and it sounds like it) we are trying to offer the players good money. Hope we can keep our best and if we lose say 2, that will be a moral victory.
Hopefully a sign that even if existing players choose to leave we may go in for a higher calibre of player in our recruitment.
Not mentioning no names Liam Lindsay, I mean no names http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/any-insiders-with-any-knowledge.279866/ Players joined us for more money and the same players will leave us for more money. Pinnock mentioned today how close all the players are. Well lets hope they are close enough that they want to achieve something even bigger together in the future.
