Disappointed to see England fall fourteen runs short against Pakistan at Trent Bridge today. Pakistan hit an impressive 348-8. Joe Root scored 107 and Jos Buttler managed a ton in just 75 balls, but unfortunately with 334-9 after their allotted 50 overs, the game was lost.
Jason Roy was the biggest reason we lost. Dropped an easy catch, missed a run out, got hardly any runs and wasted a review. Our Irish captain and West Indian seamer weren't much better.
Some of our most influential players over the years have come from abroad. Lamb, Pieterson, Strauss, Kieswetter, Geraint Jones, Robin Smith, Tony Greig, Andrew Caddick, Greame Hick, Devon Malcolm. There are loads.
i'm no mathematician and don't really understand the net run rate, but read earlier that if bangladesh had batted 1st it was over for pakistan regardless can only guess that even if they'd managed to bowl them out for 10, they couldn't improve it? some sky comms were questioning the process and said that head to head should come 1st as those who had rain affected days couldn't improve their rate kind of feel for pakistan as they probably would have beaten sri lanka whereas nz may think it's a point gained v's india and gone through
Average viewing audiences on Sky for the Cricket World Cup games thus far, has been 550,000. It's in my paper today, that if England qualify for the Final, Sky are definitely going to look at showing the game free, probably on Channel 5, so that "more people can be part of a rare and special big sporting moment." Amazed at how the time has flown. It's apparently now 14 years since an England cricket match was shown on free to air terrestrial television.
Aye was just thinking about this the other day. I think it was the 2005 Ashes that was last on. It's like F1. As a youngster I watched nearly ever race even if it was just background noise while doing other things. Can't remember the last one I watched.
Think it should still be on the BBC. I've watched it only because there was an offer on the sky sports pass for Now TV
It's a double edged sword, Sky have done a brilliant job covering cricket but unfortunately not everyone can subscribe .Free to air for the final is a must but what channel is going to show it. Bbc doesn't want it neither does itv, channel 4 maybe but it also clashes with the men's Wimbledon final.
I think Sky will do a deal with YouTube. There is also so many streaming sites to choose from , so if anyone is desperate to watch it they can easily especially the young uns who are more tech savvy . Couple of clicks and it's on .
