Don't go anywhere to eat and drink on Wenceslas Square. Full of overpriced tourist traps. And definitely don't change money there. Scam central. Otherwise it's super friendly, inexpensive, and extremely beautiful. Enjoy!
U Medvidku An old beer cellar where they serve budvar til you've had enough, just mark it down on a piece of paper and keep topping you up
If you're into classical music (maybe not! not many football supporters are ) listen to Ma Vlast by Smetena. The piece Vlatava captures the feeling of the River and the City beautifully. have a good time - is it your stag-do?
Beer Geek bar. A short walk but absolutely worth it. You might not get out of it for a while though. Modern but comfortable, brilliant beer and great chicken wings! Great music as well.
Its a great city full of history, places to see , a culture vulture"s dream , we loved it & if you eat & drink outside of the main tourist areas you will find it pocket friendly but its like any other major city , in the tourist areas check the prices before you buy otherwise you might be in for a shock . The underground is great , simple to find & use , also you can get from the airport straight into the city on the underground /overground line & with a public transport day ticket you can use the underground , bus & tram sevices all on the same ticket .
In 1991 we rocked up at Prague station at 6am and changed £10. Walked outside and saw a sandwich vendor who charged us a grand total of 6p for a sandwich. It was at that point we realised that we were going to struggle to spend the money in one day.... I seem to recall 3x sandwiches for breakfast, 1 big meal, 1 bottle of vodka, lunch, one extra large knickerbocker glory, admission to at least one museum, a few drinks and still had change left. If you are there this Sunday, then how about Slavia Prague v Sigma Olomouc (2nd vs 3rd in the Czech league). 2pm kick-off, so could be something different to remember the weekend for.
Love that mate, thanks a lot. Had a wee listen on the train here before the philistines arrived. And no, I’m the best man!
Having been a best man and a groom i'd say just make sure the groom enjoys himself. Don't make him do anything he doesn't want to. It should be one of the best weekends of his life, with all his mates in one place to celebrate with him. He won't enjoy it if he's dreading what's going to happen! Have fun.
It’s my first stag do actually, but I completely agree. Thanks. I have a few daft things planned but nothing he won’t laugh about. I won’t be chucking the poor lad off Charles bridge. Anyway, they’re due here any minute. We’ll all be huddled around my laptop watching the game on iFollow on Saturday. COYR!
Went about 20 years ago so it’s probably changed loads since then. Staropramen Brewery tour was great. They seemed genuinely surprised anyone wanted to look round and then sold us beer at about 10p a litre. My girlfriend was vegetarian and really struggled as the food was basically meat and potatoes. I thought it was great. Got asked if I wanted veg with my steak in one restaurant. When I said yes they brought me a tomato...
Great place. Been twice, once in the winter on a lads 40th weekend & once with the wife in summer when it was boiling hot. The lads weekend was in 2003 when England won the Rugby World Cup. If you fancy a bit of entertainment try Goldfingers if it's still there.....lol. As someone has said, restaurants & bars are cheaper on the other side of the river. It's a great city.....enjoy!
