Used to sell it when it was Rhythm n Booze....will look for it in Elsecar (Maison Du Biere) tomorrow.(Can't recall seeing it though)
I feel sure I've seen it at Shelley Garden Centre. I'm going there this 'aft. I'll check it out and get back to you. They don't make ale like they used to do they.? The Blue Bell at Hatfield ( Donny) used to have Barnsley Bitter ( Oakwell Ales) on draught. You used to get pis*ed from the ankles up.! There were five of us mates all around 19 years old ranging from 5'6" and 8 stone to 6' and 12 stone. The Landlord Dennis used to eye us up and down as we went in and point at each in turn and before we started told us how many pints of Barnsleys Best Bowel bursting bitter each of us could have. A very responsible landlord was Dennis but he was right. It was absolute rocket fuel. Happy daze.!
Fairly sure Costcutter at Dodworth sells them (top of Barnsley Road before Shaws chippy) They did last time i was in there (but that was a few months ago!)
I got a couple of bottles about 4 years ago in Glasgow in a Poundstretcher or B&M type store. Haven't seen it recently though. I'll be honest - it wasn't the best pint I ever had.
Used to sell it in rhythm and booze in retford where I live, I think it's now called wine rack but not sure if they still stock it, probably too far from you but if you have a wine rack near by it might be worth a look
Wentworth Brewery went into recievership in June 2016. Might be Oakwell Brewery ale they sell at Shelley. I'll have a look. http://www.thestar.co.uk/business/brewery-calls-time-after-tax-demand-1-7957473
Think you might be struggling, looks like it was to do with Wentworth Brewery who ceased trading some time ago.
these beers are no more.they stopped production after wentworth brewery went belly up.Any you see in shops are just residual stock,my mate owns the company.
Think DEK is right. The stuff at Shelley GS is definitely Oakwell Brewery Ales. Bet the residual stock ( 12 months old) might be a bit gassy ,although you can't be sure what additives and other preservatives they put in foodstuffs these days. Been reading about the guy who's inluded 30 tonnes of horse meat mingled with beef to make burgers and ready meals for sale in major Supermarkets. Adds a whole new meaning to the term Maskapony.!
I'll be honest, I had a few bottles of this a few years ago (picked them up in Rhythm & Booze) and they weren't great at all. You're not missing out.
