Get him back here on loan in Jan - back to Hecky & an environment where he'll develop.

I'd rather Yiadom and McCarthy than Bree to be honest.

He wasn't a first team regular for us, so why he thought he would be for them I don't know. Can't feel sorry for someone who's financially set for life from one contract. I hope he's a success, but as already said he's made his bed so can lie in it and I wouldn't want him back on loan.

He could've stayed with us and developed but decided to go to Villa for more money, presumably knowing they'd spunk millions on players that would be starting ahead of him. I don't wish him ill but I've no sympathy whatsoever. I'm sure his bank balance will be of some comfort.

Nobody made him take the money... nothing to feel sorry about.

Don't think folk want the lad to struggle. But we all make decisions in life, some work out, some don't.
Put you a great cross in.. but never a prem player, not enough pace..

Like others have said, no sympathy from me and I doubt he'd expect any. Definitely wouldn't want him back on loan, out of the host of players we lost Bree is the one we miss the least in my opinion. McCarthy is a far more accomplished player in my opinion.

why feel sorry for him? I wouldn't have wished him to struggle , we largely thought he wasn't ready to move on but he grabbed the money so thats his problem! Might come in useful as an example to quote to other players though.

    I don't.

I stress that I wish him no ill, and I feel he was decent for us. He took the money, though, and ended up working for man-in-drag Bruce, who has always been a limited chancer with a hand-in-the-lucky-dip mentality to building a squad. Them's the breaks.

Another angle would be that we needed the money and we encouraged him to leave. Also we don’t know how strong an influence an agent had over an 18 year old kid.

There's already Hammill when he went to Wolves and Butterfield when he went to Norwich (I think). But then there's Stones and Holgate who've done better than they would have done if they'd stayed. I can't feel sorry for him. He did the right thing in moving to a bigger club but he'll know it doesn't always work out. He's young enough to start again somewhere else if he needs to.

He's still very young. Just because he can't get in Villa's current improving team it doesn't mean he's on the slippery slope.

He could easily be one of many championship players that floats around from club to club earning fat signing on fees and good wages.

Just being at Villa will put him in good stead.

In the same way I hope Mallan understands it will take time to break in to our team I'm sure bree is the same at villa.

    Takes time to establish yourself.

I would personally love him back here if we could. But not on a loan. Lad has great potential, and in the same way Bale was never really a left back and Steven Gerrard was never a right back I reckon as Bree gets older his game will adapt and he'll move position.

That's the problem in signing for such a wealthy club with so many high-profile names in your position. He is still young enough and I would think that he had worked out that he might have to spend a fair time on the bench, or in the development squads before becoming a regular. Wouldn't be surprised to see him loaned out in January if he is still not getting game-time, but I don't think that either James, or us would benefit from his return here. He needs a different experience under a different manager. However, we are short of a full-back, but left back is most pressing.

Wasn't a first team regular? Very odd statement.

Isn't he also only on £1,500 a week at villa? Hardly left for money did he

I remember a certain poster on here saying how good Bree would be for Villa and that Hourihane wouldn't get a game for them this season...
