Many readers will remember my Father Norman ( who like myself) worked in the club shop for over 30 years. Initially in the 'Hole in the Wall ' during the 84/5 strike and more significantly the 'Ponty ' shop., East Stand and Reds Superstore. Sadly he passed away at home Monday after witnesssing the 2-0 win over Birmingham last Saturday! Over 30 years voluntary service to the Super Reds! Funeral Wed 22 at Noon Royston Church. Thanks to you all for your support now and in decades past. David

Sincere condolences to you and your family. If I remember correctly, your Father was always a friendly, helpful bloke in the club's shops and it was a pleasure to have a natter with him.
    R.I.P. Norman.

Sincere condolences to you and all the family.I got to know Norman about 20years ago when by chance I found out he used to work with my brother in law in the shirt manufactory industry. He was a lovely man and always ready to talk about Barnsley F C.Many a time your late mum Sheila would walk off with the trolley in Asda whilst me and Norman would sort out the running of BFC. Re united Norman and Sheila RIP x

So sorry to hear this news this morning. Your dad was very generous with his time with me when we were kids. Including taking us fishing at ridiculous o'clock! Kindest regards to all your family at this sad time. Mark

Please accept my condolences. Norman was a great man who I first met as a young boy buying my badges, programs and memorabilia from the hole in the wall shop in the west stand. That was 40 years ago but I always sought him out over the years for a chat and to make sure that it was him I bought my program off. He was loyal servant to Barnsley FC but also very unique in that he got to know and became friends with his customers and built a special relationship with them that lasted and he made a good impression on them. I have ha picture somewhere of Your dad, Neil me and my brother at Oxford celebrating promotion in 1997. You should be very proud of him. R.I.P Norman you will be missed.
