Just out of interest how did he play last night? And did he play against the Jarmans?
I never see any Premier League or England games so was just wondering.

He looked class again. Carrying the ball out from the back and looking for a pass through the middle. Looks a threat from set pieces these days too.

I was quite critical of him last season because in honesty, he looked shot of all confidence, but he's come on leaps and bounds this season from what I've seen.

Thanks Archey. I suffer from the same England malaise as most on here but I'd like Stones to do well, he seems to have loads of potential. Plus with all the success at youth level, who knows, we might have a team in a few years.

I watched last night, didn't see the Germany game. Don't see a right lot of the Premier League either, only the odd MOTD, so was also interested to see how Stones is getting on. Was thoroughly impressed, looks like he's gone up a notch this season - adept as ever at keeping calm and playing out, but seems to have added a bit more steel defensively. Even seemed to be leading and talking Gomez and Maguire through the game, which considering his own lack of experience against opposition of that quality is high praise indeed.

Absolutely no reason why he can't be one of the top defenders in the world for the next decade. Only wish he'd gone to Barcelona instead of City (though Guardiola's influence will help).

World class in both games, as he's been for City all season. Sorry to all the haters :-(

Thanks guys. Glad to see he's coming good.
If Irish tv can be arsed to show any of the World Cup it will be nice to watch him.

Absolutely outstanding both games , he has become world class for sure & the way the transfers have gone through the roof again this season the fee that City paid for him , is now starting to look like a real bargain

The hundreds of twitters slagging him off and those on here calling him overrated.

    I don't use Twitter so can't comment.

Those calling him overrated was probably a knee-jerk reaction to his poor season last season, I certainly wouldn't class them as "haters" - Unless that's just a buzzword these days.

    He’s been brilliant all season.

Full of confidence, good decision making & has added goals to his game.

I wish all our England team were coached by Guardiola with how much he’s improved Stones, Sterling & Delph

There is definitely a cultural thing at play as well - English culture tend to like no-nonsense defenders who are hard and "good at tackling". As Xabi Alonso observed - "Tacking is a last resort" . It happens when something goes wrong, not right. What Stones has done is added a bit more of that into his game, but more importantly he makes better choices - on when to play and when to tackle, when to come out and press and when to track.

Even Glen Hoddle has been speaking highly of Stones in the last two games, which is about as extraordinary as if Steve Claridge suddenly started singing the praises of the mighty Barnsley :)
