Good interview from mamdou, his English is improving, he is clearly ambitious and keen to improve and seems to be enjoying his time at the club, working hard. Hope it pays dividends he seems a good young bloke

Did he try and nutmeg the chair back heel the microphone and fall over his own feet?

Credit where credit is due... the lad has been here 5 minutes and already speaks better English than most on here. I know we haven't employed him as a translator, but says to me he has a good attitude.
Hopefully will be given time before being written off.

Spent the best part of a million quid for good English? It’s been three months now and he looks more overweight than when he started.

I honestly dont see the excuse for overweight footballers. Can you think of one?

Ronnie Glavin used to be accused of being overweight. Did him no harm. Does everyone need to be a stick insect to play football now?

Odd that you think he looks overweight. All I see on the pitch is a stockily built, fit young footballer who does dazzling things with the ball but is sometimes a bit too quick of thought for his colleagues. Once they are all in tune with him we will have a gem of a player, until the day he gets sold obviously.

Our most successful football over the past 2 years has come from playing a high energy, high pressing game. He’s completely unable to put any pressure on the opposition due to his conditioning.

So in short yes everybody does need to have low levels of body fat.

I too was impressed with the lad's interview. His attitude was very positive; he understands he has to improve; he understands the game is faster and more physical then in France, and he is willing to put in the effort.

His English has improved immensely. I doubt my French would have improved as much in the same time.

I did like his comment that "Barnsley was a quiet town". Not been out much on a Saturday night then, eh.

Yes, dazzling, as in quick-footed, unexpected things which wrong foot defenders. Like that backheel against Reading which should have resulted in a goal. I can't see anyone else in the team doing things like that (Hammill maybe, but he is more likely to keep the ball and try to beat everyone).

Its dead on a weekend these days and you rarely see any players out, they tend to live Leeds/Sheffield these days. The town centre is truely on its arse.

I'm reading the Lars Leese book at the moment and some of the stories he comes out with about the players' social activities are a bit of an eye opener. Seems like it was common for players to be seen in town on a Saturday night (for example after he starred at Anfield and people were plying him with drinks all night).

Doesn't look overweight to me? I would have thought it would definitely have been mentioned to him by the coaching staff if it was the case. Not something that is up for debate given they have stats on every aspect of a players physical well being these days.
