IMO - after 20 to 30 posts on a thread - a new thread should be allowed to be started on that subject.

    Why?
Because it's difficult to trawl through over 30 posts and still get a feel of what individuals are saying.
And often when the thread goes beyond 30 posts the initial subject can be lost as people go off at a tangent and start discussing other issues away from the initial post.

    I agree.

But it's also tiresome having 14 threads on the same topic in the space of a couple of days.

Nudge in ‘starts new thread’ shocker!

Seriously though I would say that if a thread has had pages and pages of responses then it’s subject has probably been discussed enough and another thread isn’t required.

Otherwise we’re always going over old things. Over and over again.

Should Thiam start ahead of Bradshaw on Saturday along side Moore?
I'm disappointed he hasn't netted yet but feel it will come with better service from a tall striker. Just wondered like.

I'm so glad you are not admin on here. You're trying to turn this board into a circus Nudge and you probably need to take a couple of weeks off.

Just read the Gauthier Ganaye thread - and then decide if those posting follow the theme of the initial post?
And - while yer looking through it - just take note if it's Young Nudger that turned into a circus.
The initial post was a genuine question - what followed was foooking ridiculous.

That's an extreme example - but it's in line with what I'm suggesting here.
If you see a thread with so many posts - do you open them for a read through?
    I know I don't.

Its called a discussion. How often have you had a conversation in the pub about a certain footballer and it turns into a discussion about a compleatly different footballer who plays in a different team or league or whatever. It happens, deal with it.

OPs get more attention than replies. That's main motivation of new threads, regardless of what excuses are given.

I like this one for Bristol City, where threads are closely managed and routinely merged, presumably by a very active set of admin bods. I'm particularly impressed by the "Bristol Rovers Dustbin Thread" - now at 641 pages (and counting).

Talking of tangents, did you know the word "tangent" comes from the Latin word 'tangere', 'to touch'
