An extremely clever player, who always seemed to play well against us both with Chesterfield & Rotherham United. If Barnsley fans had a specific chant for you as an opposition player (and Rodney did), that would be a sign of healthy respect even if the lyrics may not show it! https://www.themillers.co.uk/news/2018/january/obituary--rodney-fern-1948---2018/
Non of us a getting out of here alive mate... As for Rodney Fern, I remember him Comb over and a tash.. a lot better player than he looked..
Specifically remember this chant at Millmoor - my uncle who was as bald as a cue ball was singing as well until one of my mates said 'tha's some need to talk' whereupon he started singing even louder - happy days. Where does time go.....RIP Rodney
I remember the 4-2 win at Millmoor and thinking "who's that old git playing for Rotherham?". Sad news, he was a decent player.
Just reread that as "Rodney Fern has DIVED" - can't remember if he ever did, but was a cracking player ! RIP Rodders (PS is it dived or dove ?)
