Villa a very in form team and are definitely promotion candidates. I am not in the slightest surprised we went under today. But its very obvious to all and sundry that unless some real quality is brought in...then we face a very realistic chance of relegation. I cannot for the life of me believe that the new consortium would want this to happen. Surely its in their interests to invest in much better players and keep us up.
I would have snapped someones hands off for 3-1 before the game, l thought it was going to be a cricket score with no defensive midfield. A couple of players to add in the next couple of week and we'll be fine. Massive summer ahead, more off the field than on it.
well I would never snap hands of for a defeat, but I think I know what yer mean. Fulham put 6 past burton now that woulda been embarrassing. Who do we play next BTW
February is gonna be a big month for us looking at the fixtures. Hopefully we will bring in the necessary players to fix the problems.
I would have snapped your hand off for 3-1 when they scored their third. really thought they were going to hammer us like Fulham did to Burton. Before the game though would never take a loss before a balls been kicked! You always have hope in football. Hopefully next week Izzy back, New left back in (if Yiadom does go to Swansea) and critically Gardner back in. If we can just sign a couple of championship quality players I think we’d see massive improvements in the whole team. Can’t expect foreign signings to bed straight in. Thiam still getting up to speed.
Doesn’t sound like it. Willing to see where we are end of the window but sounds like ‘proven’ lower league (Eastwood, Moore) or random foreign players who look ok on paper/videos. Massive gamble.
I have just heard Hecky"s interview by answering the question about imminent signings & he says nobody imminent but we will get them in , so he seems confident we have more players arriving before the end of the window
I doubt he would be signing this contract if we didn’t sign anyone. He’s been completely hamstrung for 12 months now so about time he was given the proper equipment to do his job. His interview sums up exactly why this club needs Hecky. He’s not daft and knows exactly what is right and wrong. Give him proper championship standard players and he’ll boss this league.
Today was always going to be difficult but unfortunately individual errors have cost us again. Onwards and upwards, you Reds.
My problem with this is that people talk about the window as though all that matters is so you've signed when it closes. In my opinion it isn't all that matters as the league doesn't stop for a month. There are 12 points to play for in January (I think) which for a club in a relegation battle is a hell of a difference maker. I really don't understand why there is no urgency when 12 points makes the difference between £5m lost and mid table. That isn't a dig at you. More at fans in general and the club as well for its slack and almost negligible preparation for the window opening.
One of those games you chalk off, if you get anything it's a bonus. I won't look too much into this defeat, we've slowly been improving recently.
Surely the mistakes are worrying? We’ve conceded three goals following a catalogue of individual errors.
What a load of *****, if we're not going to compete why bother having a club ? Did we not go to Anfield and compete against them and also Chelsea at Oakwell. No excuse for not putting a tackle in.
By the sounds of it little or nowt has been done in readiness for the window as everything was in limbo with the takeover.
Huge gamble. It is only an extension of what went on in the summeer; all we can hope is that we are acually signing players we need rather than shooting for as many as we can in a desperate attempt to find another Houriane...
