What's Fletcher really worth?

3 goals in 39 games since leaving us.

Some of our fans take the piss out of our own club, but Middlesborough really take the prize for stupidity and poor business practice with his one. They make Wendy's deal with Rhodes look like sound business.

Would anyone seriously want our new owners to go down the route of buying owt in a pair of shorts?

Boro are going to lose a lot of money on Fletcher. He's neither a proven scorer at premier league or championship level, and I just can't see how they can hope to recoup anything close to what they paid.

I really think Pulis is backed into a corner here. He either sends him out on loan, in the hope that he starts scoring goals and comes back a better and more valuable player.or he cuts his losses by getting him off the wage bill.

What's he worth though? I wouldn't want to be shelling out much for him. A million quid tops?

If he'd come here instead of West Ham he'd be worth the £7m Boro paid at least. He was developing all the time he was with us.

So his market value and potential value to us are 2 distinct things

£2M and a 50% sell on agreement at the very very most.

We know there's a player in there which will get better and better with minutes on the pitch.

But that was at league one mate.

Had he stayed and scored some goals in the championship, we'd have probably lost him last January for a couple of million

If Boro want shut permanently then I think they’ll engineer an auction for him. By this I mean they will sound us out about his availability because of our known interest in him and invite us to make a bid, knowing full well that what we would offer could easily be gazumped by Fletchers suitors from other championship clubs. We could get him on loan if this fails I suppose.

3 million and a 25 percent sell on clause. You are buying potential with a coach who is the players mentor.

Yeah, I agree. Can't see lots of money being bid though.

And some faith shown in him.

That he didn’t get from Monk the Conman

What's funny is the number of fans ready to get rid of MacDonald but are ready to spend millions on Fletcher who's been utter pants since leaving us in league one, derrr!

He’s worth as much as anyone is willing to pay in this absurd market. Money is changing hands at an alarming rate and I really wouldn’t be surprised to see someone shell out a very significant sum on Fletcher, just as Boro did, despite his lack of experience and shyness in front of goal.

I honestly don't see lightening striking twice with him. I think he'll go for far less than half of what they paid for him.

Fletcher is worth about 1 million in transfer and 4-7k a week salary - anything else is sentimental b**locks and anyone saying we should be paying much more then that is nuts.

I've not had any minutes in the Championship, must mean I'm worth millions.

At a guess I would say 3 to 4 million would get him - and with a 4 year contract he would be worth every penny.
Could easily be the difference of staying or not in the Championship.

A player with huge talent - and with Hecky working with him he would be worth 10+ million in first few years after signing for us.

Has the new new owners got the ballax to see that?

His market value should be around 1 million. He's a young promising talent who just happens to be English. That always carries a price tag. His wages should be around 8-12k.

He's got so much potential it's unreal, but he's been held back by both West Ham and Boro.

    No it's not £1 million.
This guy has been bought for £7 million and that's more like the value I would place him at.

This in my opinion is the signing the new owners should put a marker down for.
Why ...... because basically he's not an unknown quantity.
The manager knows him very well - so the risks are greatly reduced.

Can someone explain this tag that keeps appearing on here when I post?
Some foooker trying to play power games I suspect - instead of doing what normal people would do and sending me a personal message explaining what the problem might be.
    Jeez

Boro will probably have to take a risk on getting their money back over a longer period of time. For example they could sell him for £2 with a 33% sell on and hope that he scores 10/12 goals in 18/19 by Xmas in the Champ. In that case, his value would rocket to £15m Hogan/ Assambalonga) and they would get their £7m back. Where we have a chance is that, given his history with Hecky, they may view us as the best bet for that scenario to unfold.
Really I'm just trying to fathom out how we can get a player I'd love to see back at Oakwell.
