    I don't know if that's true, but if it is, one possibility may be that they have seen and experienced far more of life and the wider world, good and bad, than many, so they are likely to be realists and pragmatists, and have a far more informed view of things than most. Certainly a more informed view than that held by the infantile leftists that infect the BBS these days.

    No one in any job has a clear view of what is going on in the world.
    Politicians included. Most army people are right wing because they do a job that is related to keeping the status quo (no not the band),
    which is pretty much the definition of conservatism.

    That's the far right and there is a lot wrong with the far right. I know a lot of ex soldiers and some are right wing and some are left wing. I know only one who is (was) a BNP supporter. There may be more, some may keep there views secret but I doubt it.

    As I say there is a big difference between the right and the far right and this particular element would make a very big difference to your statistic.
