What’s it like down there? I live up in North Yorkshire and I’m not kidding when I say it’s horrendous at the moment. Horizontal blizzard on top of nearly a foot of snow already. Even need stop in with yer big coat on!
I hate the bloody snow , I work in transport and the roads are bad enough without the snow. If the snow falls at the wrong time of day the whole network grinds to a halt . Funny thing is our customers expect our vehicles to deliver or pick up 'on time', but THEY refuse to take THEIR cars out because of the conditions.
Not snowed (other than odd flurries) in Headingley for hours. Couple of inches of snow on the ground. Looked like it was going to be terrible this morning but stopped around 11ish and was sunny for a good 3 hours but not warm enough to melt what had already settled.
Didnt know they put grit on the roads instead of salt in Dodworth Dont know how cold it is up north but here in the soft south at 4pm it was -5C and sunny only a sprinking of snow here - you need your big coat on just to look out of the window - the Brass Monkey statue is looking very unhappy
I'm in Austria and it was -25°C outside when we woke up this morning. It soon warmed up though, by lunchtime it was -15°C in the baking hot sun.
I'm a courier so today has been an absolute *******!! 192 drops today, I started at 8am and by half 2 I'd only knocked 61 off. I clocked off 20 minutes ago and I've still got 21 left. So that's an extra 21 on top of tomorrow's work. There's still plenty of snow to come too isn't there?
My mate does up that way mate, he's had a shocker today. I do all s71 1 and all of darfield and Houghton area. I know if darfield is bad then everywhere else will be horrendous. We never really get snow here.
I used to do mate. Lad called Jason does it nowadays. Used to do well there with collections, good little earner.
1st day of Spring!!! Central Italy.... 10am -4C wind howling and blizzard just turned into an ice storm. Thank God for wood stoves. Cosy 22C in the House!! About to cook the breakfast on it too
I've just experienced my first red weather warning and I have to say I'm seriously under impressed. I got to work in Edinburgh yesterday on the train but had to leave early due to the impending warning. Got home to Glasgow on the train before we went red and since then we've had a few light snow showers and nothing more. I've spoken with colleagues in Edinburgh and it's the same through there. We've got about 8 inches on the ground but nothing major and it's nowhere near as bad as it was in 2010 when the M8 was blocked for days. They will need to think about reclassifying the warnings or add some new ones (Super Red?) for anytime it gets really bad
