The two are completely unrelated. Not sure why you’ve linked them. I think it was poor goalkeeping. But that doesn’t surprise me. He hasn’t made a big save for a very long time.
Just watched highlights and it’s another poor goal with a few not covering themselves in glory but for me yiadom needs to track him, let’s him go past him and it’s that guy who scores.
He hit in incredibly hard from close range. More times than not, they hit the keeper. I doubt Davies even saw it fly past him.
Don’t think Davies is at fault at all. If only Moore had finished an easier chance than when he was one on one with the keeper, that wasn’t even a good save just a poor finish.
Your continual digging at Davies is over the top, but I suppose if you get enough likes, it will be worth it for you
Sorry can’t see how you came up with that one, being beaten at your near post is a cardinal sin for keepers, he only had to stand up tight to the post and it would have hit him on the chest.
Simply , they should have been closed down & was allowed to get the shot away from so close & with so much power , Davies did not stand a chance
How did he not stand a chance? Granted the guy should have been closed down but Davies was in position early and if keeps his body tight to the post and unless he moves it can’t go in. I’ve played in goal a fair few times and I would have been disappointed with myself if I hadn’t kept it out or at least got something onit
It went like a bullet , you must have been some keeper & as you said , it should have been closed down , but Davies cops it for every goal. Incidentally , I wonder if you raate Courtoir at Chelsea , because he just let one through his legs on the near post against Barca , now that was a soft goal
I was going to post the same thing - Courtoir looked poor for both goals actually, on his line he'd have saved the second one, the first one was just utter gash as well.
It’s nowt to do with being a great keeper, I was relating to this one particular goal. It really doesn’t matterhow fastnit’s going, if you get your angles right and stood on the post it simply can’t go in unless you move. It might bounce back into play but you simply shouldn’t be beaten when you are already in position.
Sometimes sheer power wins the day & I think its harsh blaming Davies for that goal but you think he should have done , end of story , we disagree
He made a mistake and I commented on it. Anyone who watches football knows the odds are stacked against the shooter when trying to score at the near post. The coaching manuals teach to finish across the keeper. Unfortunately on this occasion Davies poor positioning turned the odds in the shooters favour. He’s 6 ft 2 and he made himself about 5 ft 8 for that goal. If he’s in position and stands up taller he doesn’t even have to move to make the save. We can discuss all day about what other players could have done to prevent the chance, but it’s inevitable at some point a team will get shots on goal. If we’re to stay up we need our keepers to be pulling off big saves. Unfortunately they’re incapable of doing so. Davies in particular hasn’t saved anything out of the ordinary for a very long time. In my opinion he’s got 9 games now to save his future as number 1 at Barnsley F.C. If that’s not enough to bring out top draw performances then I’m afraid he’s just not good enough.
