As it's rubbish at the moment and shows very few signs of improvement on the pitch, which three former players would you pick to get us out of this mess?

Jack Butland, John Stones, Danny Drinkwater, we would probably sell them before we’d played them though.

We'll still be piss weak at the back and in the middle, but by christ there's some goals, ingenuity and real quality in those three.

If the opposition score 3, they'll score 4

Alan Little, Gwyn Thomas and Kenny Burns. The big complaint is we are going down without a fight, with these three we may go down but no one would level that at them.

They couldn't do any worse than what's out there now.

If we are talking about players we could actually play now - ie players still playing
    Butland
    Hourihane
Third a bit tricker but Id go with
Drinkwater ( but can make a good case for Scowen or Mawson )

If we can magically have players back from the past playing as they did then
    Muller
    Redfern
    Glavin

in any case we need to fix the goalkeeper and midfield - WIth McBurnie up top and midfield stronger and creating and scoring goals we would be fine

Hourihane has got to be there. Imagine him supplying McBurnie.

Agree about Muller too, he was class. And a bit crazy which is always good.

I don’t think we’re too bad at centre half (otherwise there’d be Stones/Mawson in there) so I would probably go for Danny Drinkwater.

In a way this thread is discretely showing the ages of us all I’d say.

I chose Eric for his leadership qualities and the fact that he'd chip in with a few goals as well.

I’ll see you on Big Winnie and raise you one Duncan Sharp. No chance of any bullying forwards getting the better of him.
Put Alan Hill in goal because besides being a good keeper he could always fill in as a left winger in an emergency :).
Up top? Tony Leighton could bang them in and he also doubled as a centre half in his final days so another utility player in the pot.
