Just listened on IPlayer & i struggle to listen to him for the full interview, i find him dull & boring & he doesn't actually say owt. He go on & on about how he believe's, he goes on about capacity of this that & the other, but he talks in riddles, not sure how he can motivate a group of players, who are desperate for results & performances. Straight answer to a straight question please Also, if players are meeting together to discuss whatever, i don't care how he dresses that up, it's unusual & there's something that they want to say, but can't tell the manager, either cos he is too busy believing everything else, or perhaps he doesn't have the capacity to do so........
I've just listened to Jose's interview and I think people are trying to find something that's not there. He answered every single question with clarity and without pause. What's wrong with backing your players? Whats wrong with making them believe they can achieve there goals?.Bill Shankley had a great career by telling his players every game how poor the opposition were then say after they'ed beat them he would tell them they had beaten the best team in the league. It's called motivation and these players need that after the dismal season they have had. As for the meetings with the players I agree with Jose its great that they care so much and listening to different voices and views can only help.In recent times Chelsea players,Arsenal players and even Sheffield United players have held meetings to reinvent them selves. The comment about McBurnie might have been lost in translation. When he referred to McBurnie enjoying his goal the goal in question might have been making his Scotland debut.
To be fair not many give straight answers to straight questions, Hecky certainly didn’t. Also, many questions are loaded in such a way it’s difficult to give a straight answer
players having meetings on their own is nothing new either. The world cup squad in 1990 had meetings together which led them to a meeting with Bobby Robson to ask him to consider changing the formation to accommodate a sweeper, which he did. many other teams used to have weekly player meetings to sort out issues and for team bonding. Everton players used to go to a Chinese every Tuesday under Howard Kendall in the eighties to sort things out. I think it's healthy to have such meetings as long as the sole purpose is not to undermine the manager.
I think that the fact that the guy is speaking in a foreign language obviously effects the way & the tone of his speech , I do not know if you speak any other languages but to respond to questions & having to translate before you give your answers is no easy task . I personally can speak a bit of Spanish & to reply to someone in a fluent way is very difficult & you have to be very careful what you say or you can be completely misunderstood , given that reporters & fans dissect every word he says its paramount that he pause & gives thought before he replies . I think out of respect, we cut him some slack when listening to his interviews , what matters is that he gets his message over to the players on the training ground where this can be done in a more practical manner
we know that the worst one for spending ten minutes saying naff all was Meercat "Two For One Cinema Tickets" Carvalhal. I bet Radio Sheff used to love interviewing him.
Surely we are all desperate for results and performances not just the poor lamb players Perhaps they are going to take some responsibility now they have had a meeting. My money is on it being a session for them to agree how hard done to they all are and how many matches they could win if it’s wasn’t for the pesky Portuguese
Yes some of his answers don’t actually answer the question fully but what football manager does answer questions truthfully? I thought Hecky did but turns out he was spouting a different kind of *****. I think it was the accent that was fooling.
You can argue a case. But saying someone - let alone the manager of our club - is talking out of their backside is neither appropriate or called for. This thread needs deleting.
Do or Die on Friday - will wait for him to do his talking on the pitch - his last chance for me - huff and puff so far - no sign of battling Barnsley - would rather go down fighting than talking ********
Last chance! Get a grip ffs. The previous bloke put us in this mess. You know, him that said he’s one of our own.
We we’re doing fine until after a good performance and decent point at Norwich. Only 1 Bloke changed half the team, demoralised confidence and lost it.
Its the players who need to do their talking on the pitch not the coach , its time for them to stand up & be counted & not hide behind anyone else
Don't think he did - think he was out of his depth and even more where he is now - it's the boards fault whoever is accountable for selling and bringing in substandard - a strategy that hasn't paid off - this shower are worse than Wilson's and maybe PH could have galvanised a battle but not this bloke - it's like watching kids in a park - but will still go watch cos I'm Barnsley - yippeeeee
Ha ha whatever. Seems like Judas is untouchable. He put us in this mess, when we were going along quite nicely.
It’s the blokes who conducts the interview that’s to blame. Radio Shitfield need to get some reporters with some ******. The ***** they used to let The pig wit dream come out with, was unbelievable, and they never ever once stopped him from talking complete *****.
Well they ain't done owt so far - never seen a Barnsley team devoid of fight since Spackman - this guy ain't gonna do it - and the players ain't either - hope I'm wrong but fed up of watching loosers and JM picks the team and gives them the plan - really hope I'm wrong - but think too many rotations and clueless players and I despair at the crab twins - God I'm in a bad mood
