At 18:40: "We are able to show this fight. Even if in some moments some players don't look like... but the intention is positive, they want to fight. I believe that every player that is in the pitch has the will to fight, and this is the way they are. They have the will to fight, about fighting in order to achieve the results they can have, this is the difference between fighting to achieve results and fighting but not achieving results. .....If you look to the season, you can tell me when was the season different and how different it was a season this season. And this is what we are talking about." Can someone help me because I've no bloody idea what he's talking about! For me, all of his interviews have been full of broad, meaningless generalisations for weeks. There's no tactical content. My observations when I played was that simplicity was always better. In the second half of our promotion season and in the first half of last season it was simple, players knew their role and we had a pattern of play. Yes, the players aren't performing at present but if his team talks are anything like this they must be confused beyond belief.
I said things like this when he first joined that his interviews are total bollacks. Was hoping to be proved wrong.
It made sense to me - and was a fair answer to the question. It’s actually one of his best in some ways - he’s saying that the lads are trying, even if it doesn’t look like it. But most telling, he says a lot of the lads are new to this situation, and haven’t the experience to deal with it. In many ways, it’s a similar, guarded answer to what Hecky used to say. Pretty much that the squad are giving it all, but just not good enough, yet..... In regards to his terminology, the problem I think, is part down to his vocabulary to be fair to him. Dimas has a stronger command of English and is far clearer - I can see Dimas doing most of the talking etc. Some managers do this anyway - leave the assistant to do the talking, Redknapp and Warnock being 2 I know of. If I went to Portugal, I’d be even worse! Some good questions asked, even though uncomfortable - never nice to press anyone on whether they think they’ll be sacked or not, football or any career.
true. But to be fair, they are both saying the same thing. The squad is trying, and do care ..... just maybe not good enough yet. Note the yet.
