If we hadn't beaten Sheff Utd, he was gone that weekend.

On reflection it seems strange to me that the sacking clause was written into Morais’s contract, almost as though he was expected to fail. It may well be that it would have been the same irrespective of who was appointed.

If we'd reached that point (and I'm not sure at which stage they'd concluded this) we'd have been better off doing it straight away and letting someone else take charge for the final games, even if this was Harsley in caretaker charge again.

If the situation was that bad behind the scenes (and the reactions of players on Sunday suggest it was, along with the brushing aside of the 'duel' between Townsend and Cavare at the time) then hanging on to Morais until the end of the season when his position became untenable has ultimately contributed more to our relegation than the decision to appoint him in the first place.

Imagine it was written that it was at the clubs discretion if we had of gone down and put up a proper fight of it and no backroom shenanigans had been going on I imagine he might have been kept on. I think he put the nail in the coffin when he came out with the not seeing relegation as a failure line.

I'll never, ever understand why he was appointed in the first place.

What are the specifics re what Morais has actually really done or said to the players and others which has been so bad? Happy to see him go but just curious as to how bad it had got??

After the Burton game he got on all fours purring and meowing basically calling all the players pussys.

Following day in training Hamill and Izzy started taking the piss doing the same which is why they were banished to training with u18's

He didn't fare much worse than his predecessor:-

This is how we were when Heckingbottom left and then we had 2 home games, one Paul Harsley took charge of and the other against Burton when Morais had had no time with the players. So in effect he had 14 games and secured 13 points. In this time he lost Williams through injury and he was the only midfielder with any defensive qualities that Heckingbottom signed, so understandably our away results were extremely poor. I think attention should be elsewhere to explain why we ended up where we are. Not saying he is a good coach/manager but he was dealt a bad hand and home performances and results improved.

    21 Barnsley 30 -15 27
    22 Hull 30 -7 26
    23 Sunderland 30 -21 25
    24 Burton 30 -34 24

    I’ve been saying that.
I think the new manager was possibly identified and spoken to a few weeks ago.
Only wild speculation in the media because they haven’t been able to get to know who Barnsley are talking to.
Is that because the potential new manager isn’t in Britain???

To be fair, after that Burton game, they were lucky that’s all they got. Warnock or Ferguson would have probably ripped the doors off and thrown it at them.

Make no mistake - that Burton game was **** and so were the players.

If they did take the piss out of Morais - then they got what they deserved. Try it at work with the M.D. and see where it gets you!

Agreed, Morais was rubbish but the main people responsible for this mess are the ones that put this dreadful squad together.

He got on all fours are pretended to rub up against their legs like "a pussy cat" as that's what he told them they'd played like.
