Hmm would have preferred him to be talking to us. I wonder if scottish counts as English as far as our owners are concerned
We've talked to him before and either someone in their infinite wisdom thought JM was the better option, or Ross didn't fancy it. And if he didn't like the look of things at Oakwell last season, then..............
He might be more up for a promotion push after a full summer transfer window than half a season battling against relegation with an awful team though. The job is arguably more attractive now than it was in January, albeit at a lower level.
Let's be honest. On the surface for the right level of manager (I.e not a big name but someone with a decent track record) we should be a strong attraction. We were always going to be competitive in the third tier even before we had the sort of financial muscle we do now. If I were a manager on the up I'd view our job as a real chance to take us up and then make a serious impact in the Championship. It could make someone's career.
Disagree - we weren't adrift at that point, with plenty of games to go and, on paper, a good enough squad, particularly with so many other teams shipping goals (and points) around us. I'd have fancied my chances of keeping us up at that point in time.
I think the right manager would have kept us up. If we'd been organised properly in defence I think we'd have survived.
I dont like this Gang of Three scenario one little bit. Remember the old saying - a camel is a horse designed by a committee.
In his interviews at the time he said he felt like he still had a job to do at St Mirren and wanted to see that through. He may feel he's done that now after winning promotion. Or he may want a crack at the Scottish Premier League with the club he got promoted. Or he may have said that out of politeness and the reality is he wouldn't touch us with a bargepole.
Stay with St Mirren in Scottish Premiership. Go to Ipswich in Championship. Go to Barnsley in League 1 If it were me, I wouldn't be considering us with those 3 options put before me. Even with my Barnsley biased hat on, we're still 3rd outside choice.
