I agree he would not be my choice but whoever gets the gig will get my support & I would certainly not throw a paddy & stay away if I did not like the appointment
Just one of the five for me and that’s Mick Mac. Rosler - crap manager who has failed everywhere he’s been. Jolley - did well to keep Grimsby up but far too inexperienced. Second season will make or break him. Hassell - Too much of a risk having never managed a club. Grayson - just no, never ever. A Poundland version David Moyes. Terrible football, crap signings at Sunderland and somehow made Bradford worse than McCall which is saying summet. We get him, I’ll just look for the scores at home.
Name me a football manager who doesn't fall into that category outside Ferguson and Wenger. Not many. Any manager who's been around long enough has either moved up to bigger clubs or been sacked when his club had a dip in form. Mick McCarthy falls into the same category. Again, I'm not advocating we go for Grayson but how anyone can say someone with four promotions and a play off semi under his belt can't manage is beyond me. Or did he just get lucky five times?
What makes me laugh about who should we get in as next manager, are the very same people that not only time before last and to some extent the last joker we got where shouted down from the roof tops as not being suitable...all of a sudden for some reason they now become acceptable...the way i see it the last joker in was recruited on the cheap, a friend of a friend employment wise...it fitted in with the thinking of the majority of the board members ..besides all this situation re new manager let me say this to those that dont get it...The sooner folk get it in to their ...dare i say it their thick skulls, this board have already stated that they are not and i repeat NOT..going to throw lavish amounts of money at the said project ..hence the recruitment of Jose and the lack of quality improvement to the squad last January...the club was a mess on the on the field and by the looks and sounds of it behind the scenes too...but let me repeat for those expecting anything other than what weve come accustomed to of late The club have openly said WE will not spend lavish amounts of money the club its self needs to generate its income ..and before anybody starts having ago over the thick skull comments ...if the cap fits wear it ...rant over
Many of the current squad were their teams best player in league one. Anyone with a bit of brains and organisation can get this team in the top 5. If we get 2 decent loans and a a couple of permanent signings in critical positions we should p@ss it. No need to spend a fortune - we won’t be facing the likes of Derby’s 30 million pound squad in league one.
I must have a thick skull then. Billionaires make investments to increase their profits. They won't sit idly by and wait to collect a few peanuts. The product on the pitch, exciting signings, goals and better performances/results put bums on seats or better still get bums off their seats at frequent intervals. It all depends what you call 'lavish amounts' Lavish to our board probably means 9 figures rather than 8. Just mho of course.
Come on jc you're being selective with the evidence. Previous four jobs 100% success. If you don't like his style of football and don't want him fair enough but you can't say he's a bad manager, especially at League One level. I'd imagine there's only Warnock got a better one.
As has previously been stated....so what? Nearly every manager is sacked eventually. He'd no doubt be sacked at some point if he comes here. Has he or has he not got four separate clubs promoted from the level we're now at? Are you suggesting he's had some sort of amnesia and forgotten how to do it? Call his football rubbish all you like. Don't say he's a crap manager. Personally I'd prefer a young up and coming manager. I don't know what some people want to be honest. A guy posted yesterday that he was looking forward to playing in league one because we'd have more chance of seeing winning, enjoyable football and got ripped for it. It was settling for second best. Present the option of someone who's demonstrated an ability to get teams up playing functional football and folk don't want that either.
Why is Grayson being talked about now as though hes the worst possible manager ever ?. He knows more about Lg One than all of us do combined, and thats a bit of experience and knowledge that we should be looking for. I don't know if he'd be my first choice admittedly, but hes better than a lot of other names Ive seen and he'd get my support all the same.
Why blame the board for the January transfer window. The manager came calling and the board backed him 7 times. The so called lack of quality came from the manager and his recruitment teams choices.
He’s a ***** manager who gets sacked a lot. I’d agree I’m looking forward to a D3 campaign playing open attractive football not trying to draw nil nil with a bonus of a goal occasionally. Grayson is a dinosaur I’d rather give Jose another go.
Well, we'll agree to differ. I don't class four promotions as *****. Results wise he's one of the top candidates. I'd rather have someone like Ross or Hirst. I'd love us to storm out of the League and win the EFL Cup again. Last time round was a brilliant six months. I'm hoping the owners provide the necessary finances to give whoever takes on the management job a cushy ride. We don't have to go crazy with spending, just solid investment to create a squad capable of doing very well next season.
