I absolutely agree Granty. He played for them and was a loyal. The club then placed their trust in him through thick and thin and he has now got them promoted to L1. I simply cannot believe he would jump ship to come to us. I believe he will want to try to keep them in L1 (or better) after all he has been through with them .
Can’t see it, but he did well to get them promoted and aparantly players attractive attacking football. Imagine it comes down to coin. If we offered him a huge pay rise he would consider it. Like most people in any job. If he’s ambitious he will also be interested.
Id be happy with it..... Its only a matter of time before a club higher up takes a punt, he's done a good job with wycombe.
go on then keep believing Ainsworth will even consider Barnsley. I am bout 99.9% sure he will not come to Yorkshire. Well apart from when they play us that is.
He would not be my pick but anyone's better than Grayson and Cotterell. My pick would be Paul Hirst. That's because big Mick will not come
1. Mick 2. Hurst 3. Ainsworth . . . . 7000000000. Ian Huntley 7000000001. Ainsley Harriott 7000000002. Grayson 7000000003. Cotterill.
Exactly. Assuming we'd easily be able to double his salary at Wycombe or even more. He'd be a fool not to at least consider it.
Not really. He was offered two huge moves up the pyramid, to Port Vale who were a second tier club, then Wimbledon who were in the Premier League. He had a terrible time with injuries there and moved to QPR where he stayed for 7 seasons. Hardly a mercenary. My Lincoln supporting friends absolutely love him still. He's now been at Wycombe for eight seasons. He'd take some prising away, but I'm pretty sure we could manage it if push comes to shove. I'd be very happy with him.
Whilst all you write is factually correct, I knew the guy personally when he was at Lincoln as he was the boyfriend of my Wife’s best friend(I live in Lincoln) and he made no secret each move was about money not career. That’s not a criticism, football is a short career and not great money in the lower leagues(in fact I earned more than him), I was just pointing out he is not adverse to moving on for money.
He would have been about 20-22 when he was at Lincoln. So potentially his attitude has changed as he’s got older, and moved up into management. I’m fairly sure most people are predominantly concerned with the remuneration of any career move. Especially as a young lad. I would be. His career has shown in the disloyal world of football he stays at clubs for longer than most and so while I’m sure we can tempt him with more money, hopefully the chance to build something here would also appeal. I’d certainly welcome him here if he is in the running.
Definitely. It just seems to me that he's actually stayed at a couple of places longer than most people stay in one job, football or otherwise!
