Ah well, we'll just have to knock 'em out in the last 16. Hope Gareth's had them practicing penalties
I thought Germany's second half performance was brilliant. Epitomised by that free kick. They were up against a proper team, right on top of their game, both offensively and defensively; any team in the world would have struggled against Sweden tonight, but Germany beat them, with 10 men. My money is still on Germany to win it.
Magnificent winner but they still have a lot of improving to do to retain the trophy. They don't have a specialist goalscorer since they lost Klose, their defence is ill-disciplined and I think France, Belgium, Brazil and Spain would all beat them at the moment. They play too much ticky-tacky for me and couldn't do that against the better sides who won't let them see as much of the ball. But to get through the group could get them back on the road.
They've definitely shown some weaknesses in the last couple of games but I think they'll get stronger. I think all the teams you've mentioned have the credentials to win it, but I just think Germany have that resolve that the others lack. Having said that, Belgium were very impressive today. But Belgium are Belgium and Germany are Germany and you should never underestimate the Germans.
I had Reus to score anytime, Boateng to get booked and under 2.5 goals at 72/1. 15 seconds away from coming in, I hate Germany more than Hemmsy right now.
I don't think Sweden were that good tonight, their negative attitude let them down when they could more carefully and sensibly picked Germany apart. Its not lucky when a team win a match in stoppage time, and remember we did it to Tunisia and think that we deserved it, don't we.
and isnt it good to be wrong sometimes I must admit I expected the Germans to at least get as far as playing Brazil
