As usual we are in agreement over last night as well as the immediate future. I love seeing us pile up the goals but I'm not stupid enough to think that everything is rosy now. It's still a work in progress but I'm optimistic for this season. Can't see too many 7-1 away wins but you never know. We did it to Workington away, many years ago, but these are freak results.

I've not seen us play York too many times but I have yet to see us lose either home or away. It was nice seeing the old ground again. It looks far too good to bulldoze, but that is what is on the cards at the end of this season.

Love Bootham Crescent to bits even down to the replica West Stand Bogs . Will be gutted to see it go.

Oh and the pies were grand too

My last visit there was Clarke season. Very foggy & we chose to wear all white!

Ooh, yes - forgot to mention the pies. I had a meat and potato one and it was top rank!

Ohh ok, I didnt realise Davies got the nod at Gainsbrough. Tbh I didnt really pay too much attention to that match because something else was happening on Satdy at 3pm, I forget what that was though. :D
Id definitely give Walton the shirt for the opening games but I appreciate Stendel will want to look at every player and every possible opportunity.

Lat time I was there was in the magical 1979 season, when we won 1-0 with I think a Derek Bell goal?
Went on the British Rail football special, we took around 5,000 to Bootham Crescent.
Same season as the home game with Grimsby, division 4 and 21,000 inside Oakwell

A quick look at the stats shows that our best win against them was in December 1966 - a 3-0 at Bootham Crescent, and I was there for that one. I think George Hamstead was playing for us in that match having signed from York that summer.

This is another of those "I wish I hadn't let my scrapbooks go because I bet I have a match report!" moments. They are in the custody of a relative, but 50 miles from me so I can't get at them.

Hey up Lordy lol, I only became a Tykie in 1980 and the promotion season under Clarke & then Hunter was my first season. Wow 1981 eh, I was 10 and we made Oakwell a fortress in those days didnt we. :)
