How did the lad do today? After a torrid time last season and a lot of criticism on here, some justified, some not (in my opinion) I'm hoping he's put it behind him and got back to his best. Any reports?
Thought he looked confident and solid today. Hopefully like a few others once he builds his confidence back up he’ll be like a new player. Mowatt - wow. He looks a completely different player. Think he should have been man of the match. Controlled the game. Oxford fans must wonder who they had on loan. Just shows, footballers are human and confidence and mentality are huge influencers on performance.
Had about three dodgy moments. One a shot straight at him he put out for a corner and a couple of fumbles. Did a bad clearance that landed in the away dugout. So so performance but we kept a clean sheet, so it didn't matter.
Eastwoods distribution was much better, but Davies didn’t have much to do so I’ll not pass comment yet
Forgot about that yeah, didn’t help that his defenders refused to take the ball short most of the time
Very little to do so can't really say much. He's a young lad who suffered last season as we left him in the side when he needed taking out.
Does anybody think we'll show some interest in Eastwood again this season, or maybe we don't need to with Walton as the back up keeper.
Really does frustrate me at times although the save he pushed wide did have ridiculous movement on it and he did really well to keep it out, but has anyone else noticed when he’s got the ball in his hands There’s numerous times when a quick release is on to a full back and a potential dangerous counter attack but instead he decides to wave at everyone and bounce the ball about for a few seconds. Really does get to me
He kept a clean sheet and no major gaffes Did have a couple of iffy moments but the shot he pushed round the post had a wicked swerve on it. I think last season he would have let that one in. Jury still out for me. I know there is a good keeper in there but it may take a while to really get his confidence back
Actually disagree. Eastwood nailed one into the stand too, for thiams second goal he took a massive step to his left leaving himself exposed at a post he already knows Thiam fancies, the save earlier just hit him I thought We would have still been relegated last season if we had signed him and been 750k poorer into the bargain.
I agree with you. Thought Davies was much the better keeper. The one mentioned that Davies put into the dugouts - he did that on purpose as we were about to make a sub, Moore was struggling so there was no point us gifting them the ball and being effectively down to 10 men. Don't think Davies made a single mistake, their keeper made a few.
On the day he certainly did. Haven't seen much of Eastwood to form a opinion on him. As I said higher up the thread Davies needed dropping sooner last season. Now by dropping I don't mean binning off never to be played again. Playing him when so out of form was damaging to him. Really hope he can kick on again this season as he clearly has plenty of potential.
