Ok. That bad huh. Nearmind - a more upbeat film about the town the next time we get into the Premiership
We'll done guys on getting this film promoted. I hope it's a roaring success and makes loads for the chosen charities.
You really are a feckin idiot. Dyson has spent the best part of a decade promoting the image Barnsley and Barnsley FC and helping to raise tens of thousands of pounds for local causes. You spend most days in your bedroom spouting crap on the BBS. I believe your claim to fame is that you once rode a kids bike up and down Grove Street during a game because you were bored. Think on fella.
It's called the Premier League now. When you keep putting Premiership it just makes me think you have no idea what you are talking about.
There's winding people up for a laugh and there's being downright rude and offensive. The majority of your posts are harmless but you've overstepped the mark on this. I've seen your twitter feed... completely different to how you write on here. So can only deduce you're a WUM.
I'm genuinely intrigued by your attitude towards it YN From memory you're an ex miner aren't you? The film covers the impact of the strike & then the impact of the football club on the Town post it. The title is, as you know, a play on the Mark McGhee song - genuime question, why the negativity? I mean it's up to you what you watch but reading this has been a little bit surprising. By all means hate the thing when you've watched it - I'm sure many people will because we can't please everyone but I'm incredibly proud of what we've all done & can't wait for people to see it.
Genuinely can't wait for this. I'm not from Barnsley but my Dad was and the rest of my family are and I'm incredibly proud of having links to the town and having being able to witness that period of our club. My dad endured years and years of absolute ***** watching us even though he wasn't able to see us regularly much after the late 90s, im so grateful he was well enough to have gone every week that and the following season This film looks special and I can only take my hat off to those involved
Dyson. Sorry for being lazy and it's probably on the website but when will the film be available to buy/download? Couldn't make the Lamproom screenings but really want to see it/sit down with my lad and give him my own commentary. Cheers.
End of September hopefully. We've had some delays beyond our control getting the final version which put DVD production back - we hoped it to be side by side but as soon as we have a proper date we'll release it. Cheers.
I too can't make the lamproom and was going to post a similar message to Leeds Tyke. But, to give a little more balance to this thread, I like the vast majority of us on this website on here, take my hat off to you sir. I too hope this project is a rip-roaring success. I will certainly buying the DVD
My post isn’t negative. Read it again. As I keep saying - I haven’t seen it. It’s a genuine concern that the film isn’t pitched in a way that portrays Barnsley as the downtrodden place that other surrounding towns plus Calendar News and Look North likes to see us. I’ve only seen the title - and the title looks like it’s going to be a film that combines the following three: Clint Marcelle. The old Hovis advert - walking up the cobbled street with the bike. The short film - Its no joke living in Barnsley. Because if it is ............ then it is perpetuating an image that has held Barnsley back - and it’s an image that we need to rid ourselves of quickly. To highlight this - it seems to me that our new owners, CEO and management team talk about Barnsley in an upbeat manner that many, who are actually from Britain, wouldn’t use. But as I’ve said - I hope I’m wrong about the film.
You will never please everyone (especially on here) but well done to that man and Iam sure it will be well worth seeing.
Talk about judging a book by its cover... Other films Nudger has dismissed: Goodfellas - a film about frozen pizzas? *****. The Silence of the Lambs - 2 hours of a load of sheep saying nowt. Load of ********. Schindler's List - If I wanted to hear someone talk about what they need to buy from tesco I could just ask the missus. What a bag of crap
