'Twas ever thus! It's been an interesting two months so far. In August, we played some scintilating football, whilst September showed this squad could grind out results without hitting top form. They've proved they can battle in order to win matches, when the stylish football isn't produced. Every fan likes to see us win by playing attractive football, but sometimes this isn't always possible. We've shown we can win ugly, even though it's not aesthetically pleasing. It's good that we have this string to our bow. There's always room for improvement, but we still have injured players to come back in. The Head Coach has also shown willing to give our youngsters an opportunity with the first team squad. Perhaps that same opportunity may be extended to another two or three of the home produced lads.
They were rock bottom at this time last year and finished up with a chance of the play offs. As has been said above, there are not easy games. These are the games which can an decide a season. I am sure Stendell will send the team out with the right mentality.
Who on earth plans these fixtures ? Long away matches Saturday and more local Tuesday its not rocket science with all the technology these days - surely !?
I asked the same question a week or so ago. Apparently its to boost attendance to weekend fixtures by having the long journeys in midweek.
Nah! Whilst there, Chester Races were on and The Flying Scotsman went past. My son's apartment is on the other side of the railway line next to the racecourse.
Excellent. Chester is on my list of places to see. Only been there once and it was a flying visit. I like the historic places to visit.
It's my favourite city in England. I can highly recommend it. My one year old Granddaughter lives there (she'll be two just before Christmas), so I might be slightly(!) biased!
As someone that travels a lot, I think they should be helping the fans out a bit more. Long midweek away days cost me a lot in earnings because I'm self employed. A midweek trip to Plymouth would mean at least two half days off. Other thing I've noticed for night matches is that's when the roads get shut and diversions put on, making the trip even longer.
He may well do. I think he may be reluctant to risk Potts - I noticed on Saturday that Potts only warmed up when we were losing and as soon as we went in front it was clear that he wasn't going to be used. Potts or no Potts though, I'd like to see Hedges, Victor or Thiam for Moncur.
Good for us that the return fixture is 3pm on (a very late) Easter Monday - should be a good couple of days down there at the end of April, especially if promotion is on the cards.
See, Potts only has to threaten to come on and we win. Re Moncur, I don't give him stick like some do at times, but thought on Saturday he put a shift in but was quite ineffective. I'm looking forward to seeing Hedges play at this level, should be just his bag.
Good to see Hedges get through a near full 90 minutes on Saturday without any further setbacks - shame it was only warming up!
This is a progress check game for me. If Plymouth come to shut up shop then we need to demonstrate the guile and tactical nouse to find a way through. I'm more concerned that they might come and run at us with a ''nothing to lose' attitude. Either way, we need to win comfortably. It'll be the mental attitude that determines how we do. I fear that sub-conscious 'this should be easy' attitude.
