Seems typical of the Championship to me. So many over hyped players and teams mostly playing safety first football and defences on top. League One has been a breath of fresh air for me in terms of more direct football, more realistic and grounded clubs and players and of course cheaper tickets.
I remember when we used to talk of the Premier League and Championship in exactly the same terms. Modern football is rubbish.
I wish we were as garbage as Boro are. Was worried about who'd get promoted back in August and now all four clubs I mentioned are already in the top six http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/leeds-will-be-promoted-by-end-of-august-again.270637/
Definitely, but i like to take an interest in certain other clubs results, well its boring when no home game.
So do I, and it's good when all the other teams in the RS region lose, and Leeds of course, but I don't really care that much to be honest. I just want Barnsley to win every single game. The rest of this season's, all of next and then all of those in our second shot at the Premier League. Then it will be interesting to see the lobbying by the big clubs to prevent a little club like Barnsley entering the Champions League
Agreed. Two boring boring clubs !!! During the match I kept thinking ‘well, we haven’t got nowt to fear if this is two of the top teams in the Championship’. I reckon Barnsley could beat either of them now - and that’s before any strengthening that hopefully will happen next summer.
It means diddly squat, but I thought the exact same tonight. Couldn't help it. Watched them and thought, we'd do these. I think that's a good sign, and the way to be anyway. Fear gets you nowhere.
With the rest of this season to improve and 2 more transfer windows for recruitment I think we could be competitive again if we did go back up this season. We nearly stayed up with the majority of this team and I think they will be better players for the experience. I expect Boro to go up so we probably won't be seeing them if we go back very much see them as this seasons Cardiff, grinding out results. The biggest difference at Championship level is the quality of finishing I think, you can't afford to miss as many chances as we do every week because you won't create as many. Also you are more likely to be punished at the other end. Look at Plymouth at home for example against a championship side that would likely have been a loss. Now that is of course to be expected and let's face it if we go up the majority aren't going to be expectingto be in the top 6. As i said i think we could be competitive and another plus would be the high press may be more effective as more championship sides would play out, especially against little old Barnsley and would not sit back Agasint us like a few have this season. Lets hope we get to find out! Ps it's nice to have you posting more again recently!
Blades have dipped 2-1 at Derby and Huddersfield have lost at home 0-1 to Liverpool. Altogether a bad day for Yorkshire football.
