Read most of the threads on there now. Some complimentary stuff, plenty of 'we won couldn't give a f**k' stuff, but I struggled to find a single mention of their "penalty" that undoubtedly turned the game. Funny that....
Does sound like us, often the stats say we have dominated a game with shots ect. But when you watch us our shots are often speculative or when we do get a decent chance poor finishing. We will wallop some teams though because we do have a lot of shots and create chances. Some days they will go in, but our conversion rate tells you we don't create high quality chances. Sunderland away was always going to be tough, the real downer for me this week was a the shambles on Saturday. Still we are on course for the play offs which is what I expected at the start of the season.
Sunderland. Playing in front of almost 30 thousand fans at home with the most expensively assembled squad by some distance. They should be walking this league, but they're not. They weren't on top for long periods like some suggest. The penalty was dubious, as we're some of the refs other decisions on the night. All 3 of their open play goals came following good spells by us. Final ball and finishing was the difference on the night. Whilst they flashed crosses in we over hit or fail to beat the first man on too regular a basis. Our build up play was pleasing on the eye, but slow and predictable and we don't have anyone to produce the quality of their 2nd goal. One on one and held up, yet found a yard and curled a beauty.
It also tells me that when we do create a high quality chance, we can't manage a high quality finish. We've seen some good chances wasted in recent weeks, although to be fair every team we've played has done exactly the same. Symptomatic of lower league footie, I guess.
We did have such a player and he did it twice for us at Wembley. I know, I know... no use banging that drum any more... grrrrrrrr
Penalty not mentioned ? Was a very dodgy decision which turned the game imo . I think if they are honest they would be very disappointed if it had gone the other way . Concentration on our part after a setback needs addressing and individuals need leaving out of the team and that means experience in jan imo. Two good goals from them one a not pen and other cos we were chasing game . Two each would have been fair according to stats and as soon. As var comes in for the so called smaller clubs the better imo
Won't happen. Championship maybe one day, but not in League One ever. The costs of making every single game a multi-camera OB, which they would need to be to do VAR properly, means it'll never happen at this level. Who pays for it? The clubs? The EFL? Quest??
