At the start of the month I decided to do a challenge for Barnsley Hospice in memory of my mate Hubba who passed away earlier this year. Im running a minimun 5k per day every day in November.

Curently done 21 so on the countdown now. Been tough going some days as im not a runner - esp today full of cold and freezing weather!

If anyone want to sponsor me for a great cause here is my just giving page. The Hospice need all the help they can get.

5k, every day, for 21 days?
By reckoning, you should be in Leicester area now then?

    Well done, however, great cause.

    Done.

I bumped into Hubba a few times in my uni days in Sheffield on various nights out. Nice lad and amazing efforts from him. How inspirational.

Good luck with the running pal

Put you a donation on pal, whilst I don’t know you and I didn’t your mate; it’s a great thing you’re doing, and for a cracking cause.

Callout to everyone else if I can be so bold: I like to think we help each other out on here if we can - I’ve benefited from that after getting stuck in a wet field after a match last season (thanks Beth...). Omen needs just over £100 to hit his target guys, so is anyone else able to help? I’m sure if we all put a couple of quid on - if you can manage - it’ll make all the difference.

Good luck for the rest of your runs Omen.

Like Chef Tyke, I didn't know Hubba that well, but we always used to have a chat and a laugh whenever we saw each other back in the day round Sheffield. My best night out with him was when we got kicked out of the Republic staff Christmas party at Orchis by Simon Raine, after Hubba tried to take over on the decks without permission. It was highly amusing watching Raine fly into a rage. Anyway, a great thing you're doing mate, I'm very happy to donate to the cause. Even more so as I have a close family member in the area who was affected by cancer as a child. Luckily she is now alive and well and made it into adulthood, but it's something that touches everyone. Hats off to you.

Cheers matey and to everyone else that have donated - we all make a difference!

I'm just £20 off my original target and then im raising the bar :) ill match the donation total with distance every day to try and aim for that 1k. so 500 is 5k - 600 6k etc. Thats my plan. So sponsors will push me all the way to the end now. :)

Smashed last weeks park run pb by 33 seconds this morning in 26:16 so im deffo getting fitter and stronger. Lost 4.5cm off my waist so far as well so all nice little side effects of the challenge. :)

Just leaving a quick note to say i finished the challenge and rattled off all 30 runs with a total of about 187km for the month as i had a few longer runs in there too. Thanks to all those that have sponsored so far - at the moment the running total stands at £853 with a few to come in yet and some offline so hoping to reach £1k which will be great for Barnsley Hospice as i know Hubba wanted to do something for them but wasn't able.

I've also now quite got into the habit of running and along with the health gains and fitness i'll be keeping on running! :) Park run was a sub 26 PB this morning so now my motivation is coming from wanting to keep improving and beating my times.

Tough month - especially the first 2 weeks with the knee soreness issues, but loved every minute of it in a weird way to be honest. Pain had now gone and body adapted so its just normal aches with age now after a hard run. :)

If anyone hasn't done park run and wants to keep fit its a great free event that all abilities, shapes and sizes enter - go try it!

Well done, I don't do running but I'm almost up to 3000 miles cycling this year (just under 9 miles a day).

I didnt used to enjoy running and always preferred to go cycling - but you get a better workout quicker with a run - a bike ride you need half a day to get a decent ride in - i can knock out a 5k in 26-30 mins now depending on pace so just right to squeeze in every day if poss. If you can ride a bike to and from work etc that also great too as a consistent ride each day is better than one big one.

I have a 6-mile commute so I do 60 miles a week just going to work - only use the car if I really need to - or it's peeing it down....
