There are one or two daft comments on today's ref. Referees are not biased. Like players they have bad games and Darren Bond, today, had a bad game.
Agree that it is silly to suggest he was biased. He wasn't biased. He was just really bad. Not the first, but he stands out as one of the worst this season, amongst some stiff competition.
If you don’t think that the referee made some bias decisions today I don’t know what you’ve seen . He DIDN'T miss their shoving and pulling he waved it on whilst pulling us up for the slightest and that is biased for whatever reason
But you are basically calling him a cheat. That's over the top and when tomorrow comes and you can see it with more perspective you'll probably concur. He was just bad. That's all.
To be fair I don’t remember their player being down for that long. I just go by consistencies, which with referees is bad I know. Every game there’s generally 6 subs, goals and some players down injured yet I’ve never seen more than 5 minutes added on unless there’s been a really serious injury. Oh well, we won so it doesn’t matter I suppose!
So both sets of fans thought the ref was biased? What would his motive be? The guys in the middle have the worst view of anyone in the stadium, are denied visual and replay aids which would make the job easier, and are paid less than anyone on the field. This is one of the things that hacks me off about football. It's absolute rot. Dog whistle football fans.
I think when a referee gives sympathy decisions to a team then his impartiality has to be called into questions. During the first half when we were absolutely cruising at 2-0, a number of decisions went against us including obvious throw - ins and what should’ve been corners. Then the obvious holding and pulling at players only penalised if you wore a red shirt. This continued into the second half culminating in that ridiculous free- kick that Pinnillos was yellow carded for. Yes we should’ve buried them, but when your down in the game, that’s the type of break that lifts you. Not that they ever looked like getting a second, but it was still a bit squeaky bum time.
Refs don’t help their cause with their inconsistencies when dealing with situations that they’ve obviously seen.
Sympathy as I’ve already said. Feeling sorry for them coz they were basically getting a hammering at the time
No it doesn't. Referees have a very difficult job and sometimes they don't make a very good job of it. Today's was awful. But I refuse to believe any suggestion of bias or lack of impartiality, suggesting cheating. I just accept that it is a difficult job, being done by human beings who have good days and bad days, just like the players do. It is not an exact science. To be honest, in todays instant replay from every angle world I think it is an impossible job and for the life of me I wonder why the hell anyone would want to do it. I am just glad there are some who do otherwise we would have no game.
That would be a very strange motive. Think it would be much more likely (though still unlikely) that he'd had his Aunt lay a Barnsley win on Betfair exchange. However, I honestly think my post about players experienced in this league knowing how to "manage" the third tier officials being much more likely, especially when you look at the shitbag that Charlton have in charge.
I mean the imperative that compels football fans to feel that every decision that goes against their side is evidence of patent bias, incompetence, or worse, notwithstanding the evidence in front of their eyes.
Thank you. Setting aside that the description probably covers about 80% of footy fans! Marlon was a bit strong in his comments, and I didn’t agree with his conclusion, but, on the evidence of my own eyes I thought that was one of the most incompetent pieces of officiating I’ve ever seen at Oakwell. Incompetent almost beyond explanation. Did you think different?
Don't think it's that simple. I've tried to propound a theory that it has more to do with the more experienced players in this league knowing how to manage the refs. BTW is that photo of concorde the one in the Fleet Air Arm museum.?
On the injury time, there was one goal & 6 separate substitutions. They typically take about 30 seconds each but Thiam & Bahre both took an age to get off the pitch & received standing ovations. Lindsay had a head clash with one of their attackers & both were down a couple of minutes, Bahre was also down a couple of minutes injured. Adam Davies wasted time all second half, his time wasting got that bad that Charlton fans were counting how long it took him to take a goal kick & one occasion got to 19. Seriously 7 minutes was not even close to ridiculous, I was expecting more. On the referee ‘favouring us’ by my reckoning there should’ve been 5 sendings off today. The correct one he gave against the Charlton player plus another Charlton player should’ve been red carded when he brought Brown down. But I felt we should’ve had 3 off, Woodrow dribbling away with the ball & not giving it back to the Charlton players whilst on a booking was stupid & by the letter of the law he should’ve gone if the referee had any bottle. Then both Pinnock & Pinillos took down Charlton players through one on one on goal which unless the laws have changed are clear red card offences unless it’s in the area & then it’s no red card as the double jeopardy rule comes into force. If anything you could argue he lacked bottle as he didn’t send any of the defenders off for the one on one’s. If I’m been honest I’d also say our first goal shouldn’t have stood, one of our players clearly ran the ball out of play in the build up to Potts’ goal. So all in all I’ve got to say I quite like Darren Bond & I think a lot of Reds fans need to take the blinkers off.
