Vividly remember shaking hands with the great Tommy Taylor and Harry when
Barnsley came to Belle Vue to play Doncaster Rovers. I was only a nipper.
My Dad had the job of managing the main Grandstand at the ground, so he used
to take me behind the scenes to meet visiting players.
That day Harry had an absolute " blinder" saving several shots that under normal
circumstances would have resulted in a goal. Incidentally, every time I ever saw the Reds, one
player always stood out for me, namely the late great Arthur Kaye.!
RIP Harry Hough ,not in any doubt he was truly a devoted servant of Barnsley AFC.

Many years ago my A Level Maths teacher used take the rise out of us reds fans during Pure Maths (ugh) especially one of them who used to live somewhere near Hough Lane in Wombwell; saying how Hough Lane was named after said (rubbish) Goalkeeper. The said Maths teacher's idea of humour was on a totally different level to us kids - a bit like our grasp of Pure Maths. I always thought he made these (funny) stories up - well I'm not so sure now - he at least got the name right Harry Hough.

    RIP Mr Hough

Very little response to the passing of a player who really was synonymous with BFC when I was a lad. Not surprising - time moves on and old people are forgotten, No - Hough Lane, wasn't named after harry. He opened a sports shop in town for a time if I remember right - either in the late 1950s or early sixties.

Harry made 364 appearances for the club and held the record for the longest number of consecutive appearances.
