Always useful to respond after consideration rather than in the heat of the moment - though if we all did that, this Board wouldn't exist.

I think the reason many of us were upset with yesterday's news re Potts was there is an absence of trust between the support and the Board/CEO at Barnsley FC. For some that has been the case was 40 years, for others it is more to do with recent times. The 'Fire Sale' in January 2017 or the Bradshaw sale after the season had already started this year, being just two examples.

Looking at the Potts sale 24 hours on, the situation is really quite simple for me. It doesn't really what I or others on this Board think re Potts quality/his sale price etc...but it really does matter what the Coach thinks. If Stendel was happy to see Potts go (for whatever reason) then that's fine. This could be either because:
    - he doesn't rate him and doesn't think he's an asset to get us promoted
    - He thinks we have a surplus of midfield players and he can be replaced from within,
    - He knows we're bringing in someone better in the window.

If Stendel think ANY of these things then we should just relax and let him get on with it. The problem occurs if he's unhappy with the sale. That can't be acceptable. We can't employ a Coach to get us out of the horrible league and then take away the precious few tools we give him to do it. I won't even talk about whether it's acceptable to string the fan base along with false expectations, or the fact that the new Board should have given us some degree of financial security, which we've not had in the past.

If we really are operating a 'model' where it's the CEO that determines who plays for the Club and who doesn't and the Coach doesn't have a significant part to play in that discussion we are well and truly up sh*t creak without a paddle. I look forward to the next few weeks.

What makes you think Daniel had any input?
    Hopefully he does, just saying!

This wasn't about the board. This wasn't about Stendel. This was about Brad Potts and his release clause - he has always looked miserable at Barnsley - so he was looking for a way out. We got good money for him so stop whinging about the club, the CEO and the manager. Whinge about Pottsy = 4 - 4 - 2 and Pottsy on the wing. Sure is - winged his way across the Pennines - so f.... off.

Has always looked miserable,? Why have the rest of the players look happy or summat? Now is the winter of his discontent to be made a glorious summer by arriving at PNE.
He has always looked happy enough on the matchday recap videos produced by the club. Let's hope his departure mark the first of a few of our better performers

Quoting from Dick the Turd! I am very impressed. But I suspect you are an English teacher. And all the clouds etc etc

I liked Potts and I'm sorry he's gone. In the pantheon of great midfielders I've seen at the reds during my time he won't rate as one of the highest, but he provided energy and could pin a defence back with his runs into the box. Not easy for opposing defenders to play. We were a better team with him than without.
Having said that, we have a number of midfield options and we have cover for him. It may now be that Moncur stays and flourishes. I felt the same as everyone else yesterday and it took some self control not to join in the the other posts.
I think we should wait until the end of the month, before we judge the board and their ambition. I'll be happy to keep what we've got now, but if we can't then I expect better replacements to be brought in.

So do we all but I'll believe it when I see it. Hope replacements are in place by next week because confidence in the board will nosedive if other of the better players depart and are not replaced. Plus the moral of the players that remain will certainly be hit.

Here in is the ultimax paradox of being a football fan. We are all supporting a business. That business is invariably a limited company and hence its own legal persona. Our ultimate sanction would be to withdraw our support, ALA Blackpool. However, thats not gonna happen here. I have my own thoughts, voiced them a couple of times, no response (might be my fault).
Five years time, junction 39 superstadium, super hotel, super casino and we will be suporting the yorkshire wildcats

You can make adjustments for his departure, but he was an integral team member of a potentially promtion winning squad. Regardless of who we sign(and be honest some under 23 like Knausmullner) we wont plug that gap.

There’s no way that Daniel Stendel would have been happy with Potts going. It just doesn’t make sense in pure football terms. Like the rest of us he will just move on. I happen to believe that it makes promotion less likely. I may be wrong and in any case I don’t think that it was a consideration in his departure.

Barnsley have played 25 games this season. Potts started 22 of them. He scored 6 goals and provided 5 assists.
It doesn't take a genius to work out DS's views on him as a player.

We now need to see who comes in & who leaves.

I'm not optimistic personally, but iId like to be proved wrong. Dougall has been a great signing, Woodrow, if the deal has gone through is too & Bahre is looking a good loan player, so the quality brought in thus far, has been good.
