I was at my brother in laws wedding in the Regent Hotel in Donny. Good number of the guests were from Barnsley. Wife's cousin had been outside having a quick cigarette and came running into the bar shouting " we've licked Liverpool 2-1 int Cup". Cue scenes of absolute joy from all the Tykes and numerous Rovers fans with faces like a slapped ar*e sulking in the corners of the room. What a night we had after we heard the news. Good job we'd booked a room overnight. We took 6,000 fans that day who looked absolutely delirious when the Ref blew his whistle.
‘‘Twas the biggest **** up regarding tickets ever. and if memory serves me right less than 5000 tickets taken up.
In a strange parallel universe I was at my sister in laws wedding in Cardiff, the shout of “get in there” confused a few just as pudding was being served!
Alongside Neville's assault on Andy Liddell and Old Trafford that was an equally appalling penalty refusal. Good job Brian Howard didn't dwell on it, or go haring after the ref.
Another positive feel- good thread going to be hi jacked by negativity. Only 5k Reds fans there due to ticket ****-up =load of ballax
I thought we sold all our tickets - the problem was the way they were distributed which meant many season ticket holders missed out because some others had got 4 tickets to take their cherry picking mates. One positive is the club has been so much better at ticket allocations since
It was 6k for a start - many tickets went to people who rarely attended while many fans who go to every game - not negative it's a fact.
I always remember where I was when President Kennedy was assassinated and when the Man Utd plane crashed at Munich. Both were very sad and traumatic incidents, but our Cup wins against Liverpool and Chelsea evoke feelings of absolute joy and will never be forgotten by myself and many diehard Reds fans.
Fact. 8,000 ish season tickets. Fact Don rowing didn’t take up the full allocation due to the fact we ONLY SOLD. Approx 1500 To Newcastle Tuesday night earlier in season. Go league cup. Fact Don rowing wanted to dish out 4 tickets per qualifier. Fact Supporters liaison talked him into only 2 tickets per qualifier. Fact 1981 took 14000 to an estimated 17000 to anfield. Regarding the allocation we took up I believe (but may be wrong in this case. Might have been nearer 6000. Can’t find info to back that one up.) but my memory says in the region of 4400. Fact biggest **** up in ticket allocation in Barnsley fc’s history. Hope that helps. Apologies to you Donny Red if I have in any way offended you by adding to your post.
