Wouldn't expect them to come out and say premier league in 3 years, would just be silly. But a well run business would usually have a short, medium and long term plan with a roadmap explaining how they’d get to their objectives. So, whats the plan then ? Are their any plans to develop or change anything about the ground, training facilities, public spaces ? How about marketing ? Merchandise ? Hospitality ? Where do they see the club in say 10 years time ? When do they expect to take full ownership of the stadium ? These are the types of things I’d like them to tell us.
Why not go to the next supporters meeting and ask them? When you run a business though, it's not always prudent to tell everyone everything.
I’m not surprised that Conway is taking some personal time at getting to know the club, whats under the hood, its fans and community close up. That experience he will gain will be invaluable when or if they appoint a new CEO. The owners made it clear at the outset that they didn't intend to change too much in how we do things. They said they wanted to build on the club being central to the community. There is nothing better to bring fans and players and the club together than success which has been achieved this last season. So to turn the question a bit into something more relevant. What are our expectations for what the owners will do with our club? Reading this thread it seems this is the real question as the owners have already stated their position.
Most of our fans were ecstatic when we won the JPT and promotion back to the Championship, As we know only too well, that feeling of togetherness when the Club wins a trophy is not sustainable. It's inevitable that we are going to have mixed fortunes going forward. We managed to go the entire season unbeaten at home last term. It's highly unlikely that we will not be able to achieve that next. My expectations for next season, are that the board continues to improve the matchday experience for our fans, they strengthen their resolve to keep as many of the existing squad that DS knows can do it at a higher level and bring in additional quality to ensure that we are not consistently looking over our shoulders all the time fearing a return to League One. There's only one sure fire way to ensure supporters enjoy themselves and continue to attend games. Win as many games as you can, especially at home, to ensure that the fans can turn up knowing they will hopefully enjoy a good day out.
As far as I'm aware jobs on a level like CEOs usually require a 6 month notice. So if we are recruiting someone of a similar position then it'd be a similar wait until someone could join us. I might be wrong like.
I thought we were getting that DC United bloke. https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...england/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.37b145e6c075
Agree with that DR and it’s been my philosophy of watching the reds and as Someone in another thread hit nail on head expect nothing appreciate everything. As long as these new owners are positive in their tenure and I don’t mean spending millions on wages or players . The West Stand needs addressing one way or tother otherwise we gonna have to deal with it probably when investment is at a premium and it’s gonna be a massive problem for us . Facilities for academy need improving so we invest as we go along and not because we have to and it causes a problem in needing massive amounts . Slowly but surely if we can keep on competing in the league (championship) and long term investments in fan experience and facilities and we can compete without doing “anything crazyI’ll be happy “and our facilities improve for the future so we not confronted with major overalls and improvements all at once that’ll do me. Anything else is a bonus imo.
Couldn't agree more Marlon. The West Stand is part of our heritage and as I've said before, I used to prefer to sit in the lower terrace area because as well as having bags of room, the other three sides of the ground looked good. Our supporters also had affinity with the old Brewery Stand and the Ponte Road terracing, but they were demolished to make way for the new stands the Board subsequently had built in their place. As much as we are resistant to change, the new owners surely will have to do something innovative with the whole of the West Stand and its surrounding concourse, otherwise the H&S police could eventually condemn it. I don't know if it's still there, but after getting a Bovril from the tea bar at the back of the Stand, I used to nip to the bog to " empty mi Dudley" before kick off, and used a small domestic sized closet with a cast iron cistern and a pull chain. It was not dissimilar to one we had at home when I was a kid in the early 60's. If I could wish for three things to see our Board do in the future, top of the list would be to see an improvement to the West Stand, the erection a Social Club similar to the one we used to have in the corner of the Ponte Road terrace and have the players run onto the pitch from the half way line, using new dressing rooms underneath the West Stand. When we had dressing rooms there in the past, they used to leave the windows wide open. The smell of linament used to waft over the terrace. Quite often it used to make me smile when you could hear some of the comments being made. If we were losing at half time, the "motivational " speeches from individuals like ooh, Gerry Gerry and Malcolm Shotton were legendary. During one game, Owen Archdeacon had not exactly not covered himself in glory in the first half and the language used to "motivate" him at the break, would not have shamed any of my mates who were all straight talking honest Colliers.
The 'Rat Hecky' as you so eloquently put it, actually did the right thing, by informing the club of his impending departure and agreeing a contract thus entitling BFC to a compensation payment. He could have done the wrong thing by leaving and the club getting nothing.
He was still under contract in January, if he wanted the vacant job they would have had to pay no matter what. I also doubt the value of any compensation to billionaire owners, especially when it may have cost them £6m when we ended up getting relegated.
If rumours are right could we see a return of GG from Nice stepping back into his role as CEO ... He's still a director I believe..
I’m not so sure tbh. The club could have stopped Leeds from talking to him if they’d just signed the deal citing just that. For me the club knew they would get a good lump sum so let them negotiate imo
He is but he’s a family man also and it’s a career move he made as well as the money it brought . I’m not saying he was disloyal as it was the club who gave him permission to speak to Leeds . I don’t know the exact reasons why he says he was unhappy after just signing the deal but he had given conflicting views as has been documented and discussed on here loads of times . I for one won’t judge him as he does what he had to for himself and his family but to say he did it solely to get the club compensation is a bit suspect imo
I do I Don’t see it as disloyal either, the club agreed to let him talk, so obviously we’re willing to let him leave on some level. I also don’t agree with the anyone but Leeds either. On face value Leeds was a no brainier, in a new start, more money, was wanted and didn’t even have to move house. Every Manager has a sell by date and I believe by the time he left he’d reached his(for us).
