To be fair to the South Korea team, one of them looks vaguely like something that resembles a woman.

Agree. S Korean women are normally a very attractive race. No idea what happened to those who play football.

This is exactly like when the men’s World Cup started last year.

Whatever happened to the women commentators we listened to during the season. I quite enjoyed their input. But listening to Pearce tonight... FFS I'm losing the will to live. What an utter boring fart

I wondered that too! But 50% of match of the day matches are commentated on by women.. so men must also do 50% of the world cup matches.
    Equal rights and all that

Is it just my telly, or is the commentary way behind the pictures? Players were back on the halfway line by the time JP called the goals.

Noticed that as well when goals were scored. Not as delayed as you say but as the ball was entering the net Pearce was still doing his best to bore the pants off of me and I thought, FFS keep up with play.

Been catching up with a few episodes of the Channel 5 North Yorkshire Moors railway programme. Far more interesting.
Piglet had a little sty to sleep in. Lovely.

Trying not to be sexist..or at least posting this without intending to be ...Whilst I acknowledge the skill levels of women in the professional game are often on a level with most male professionals, their overall pace compared to men (professional sportsmen that is) makes for tedious viewing and the stature...agility?? of female goalkeepers or (whatever reason) makes the goals look enormous.
Perhaps if the pitch and goals were reduced in size by, say, 10%, it may make it far more watchable. End to end attacks seem to be in slo-mo sometimes.

I was thinking that the goalkeepers looked much less skilful than the players, can’t put my finger on why though....?

Continuing on, i just looked at the height of the current keeper for Spain women currently playing and she is 5.6ft/169cm tall. Im going to have to watch some of these games to see how the exactly keep the goal, surely any ball placed in the top corner cant be saved by someone 5ft6, when i played in nets at 6ft3 it was hard enough. I used to think Barthez was a short keeper but he was 5.11ft.

Women’s football is worth watching - there are a number of local women in the England squad (eg Millie Bright & Jade Moore)

It's definitely below Conference standard, wish the BBC would stop pretending otherwise. The level of hype is over the top and comes across as virtue signaling to be honest.

I was official photographer for Reading Women before and during the WSL started.
Technically some of the players are as good as men, mentally also as astute.
Physically there is a difference, as there maybe in most sports.
Goalkeepers are shorter, there were a couple of really tall ones when I covered it, but yes majority are shorter, but again, shot stopping and reactions lightning quick.
