    If we are to lose lindsay to stoke as rumoured how come clarke is valued at double when our man was part of the best defence in the league and was promoted?

    That is of course if the transfer fee was up to 5 million as reported?

    both had 1 year remaining on contract as I understand?

    unless the brighton deal is mainly add ons stoke have got a bargain!

    If Brighton had come in for Lindsay instead it may well have been 5 million, that's a tiny amount with regards what EPLclubs get, stoke are obviously not as flush nowadays, buying Gregory, Powell as proved that, or the owners are going down a different road financially

    Our man wasn’t the best defender at his own club and didn’t make team of the year. Doesn’t mean I don’t rate Lindsay, but you asked why there was a jump, and personally I thought Clarke was superb last season.

    £4.7m up front rising to £6.5m according to a Pompey Journo. Don’t forget an England cap is worth a lot more than a Scottish cap too which is why the eventual figure is higher.
