We struggled when he was injured last season, I don’t see how we can replace him for that money. If we sold him to s potential relegation rival in Millwall it would be nuts. I had no issue in selling Bradshaw but Moore is 3 times the player. I’m not sure what quality of striker people think exist in the championship but at our level in it we’d be mental to sell him imho.
I was hoping, other than releasing Isgrove and Fryers, who Stendel clearly didn't rate for whatever reason, we'd keep the whole squad together and make a few additions. I knew it wouldn't happen, but that was the ideal. Moore may or may not make it as a good Championship striker. I don't know. But I want to see us give him that chance. He's massive, he's pretty quick and he works bloody hard. There's hardly anyone about like him. If he can start scoring goals at this level like he did at League 1 we've got a reight player. And it would be nice to start a season where I can actually identify most of the players. Greatly undervalued that in your connection with the club.
I agree, for a big guy he covers a lot of ground & is a handful. He suits our high press game & will create chances for others. He will miss a few sitters probably too, but he, after Pinnock would be one of the hardest players to replace in the current squad.
I know it was only Shrewsbury, but their 2 centre aifs had proper cigar out at Oakwell last season on Moores comeback game, big lads n all. But as soon as Moore came on it was a different story, panic seemed to set in and he game em summat to worry about. Not as easy in championship I agree but hes better than he was when we were collectively a shambles in our relegation season. Defenders hate pace, but they equally dont like gret mobile lumps like Moore. IMHO
Hardly given anyone away. Made a boot load on Lindsay who wasn't interested in a new deal so sensible business. There is not a chance with a player with a decent contract length leaving for that, especially a forward player.
Agree with this, not convinced he’s much more than a 10goal a year man in Championship, but he can create a lot for the team who have can capitalise on the graft he puts in.
I honestly think any of you that would sell him for £3m are a bit mental. I know there seems to be some kind of pretence that because we got relegated last time round that everyone was **** but that wasn’t the case. Moore was excellent after joining in January. He was a handful & he’s linked up well with 3 different strikers in McBurnie, Bradshaw & Woodrow as well as showing that he’s more than capable of playing as a lone striker. He scores goals, he’s got a high work rate, he’s good in the air, he seems to be able to adapt to whatever system we play & whoever he plays with. What more do you want?
We got one in cheaper when Bradders left, two strikers at his price and we'd have plenty left over from the £3 million. Not that l believe any truth in the article, £3 million and Millwall is all you need to know.
Well said mate. Some of the shiiite ive seen in the past its a breath of fresh air to have two tryers up front.
I think we are going into the Championship with a squad full of confidence. I've no idea who will perform well but really looking forward to seeing us face up to the Championship. I think plenty of clubs will be nervous about facing a team with our two excellent strikers in it. They work well as a pair, and with every upward step in sport, or life in general, there are tougher opponents to overcome. I can't wait to see them have a go.
Someone like Moore? Probably doesn’t exist. The way he makes time on the ball He really intimidates defenders Scores plenty of goals But Has a shockingly bad 1st touch Constantly looks for fouls in a situation where looking for the ball would gain more advantage Misses plenty of sitters. We couldn’t replace him with someone similar, but do we need to. There are other kinds of strikers that also have their own advantages and disadvantages.
Andy Giddings reporting that Millwall have made an enquiry about Kieffer but nothing more at this stage.
Agreed. If you sell a player for £3M - then to replace him with a similar quality player you have to spend £3M. If you buy a cheaper player to replace him then there is nearly always the element of RISK. Is Barnsley in such a comfortable position in the Championship that they are able to risk certain scenarios ??? I would say NO.
Not sure why all this is even an issue. Moore stays unless someone comes in and offers an absolute fortune. Lindsay should also have stayed given the paltry fee we got for him - I suspect we'd have got the same for him in Jan 2020. We have wealthy backers, potentially far more resources than Millwall, so all I can assume is that we are still regarded as a soft touch across the League for not being able to resist a few quid. We kick off in just a few weeks time - now is not the time to be re-arranging our first line strength, other than additions.
