Not really that interested However, just seen Jeff Goldblum on and presenters drivelling and licking up to him Then Sir Dick Attenborough came on with his planet and environment speach and bbc just cut it short. No wonder this world is falling apart. Values completely wrong. Sorry, rant over.
I've just been wondering how many people don't bother with it, now it's become so mainstream and commercial.
That OAPs may spend their time supporting farage is no different to a bunch of middle classes supporting bands at glastonbury ? No doubt the glastonbury folk on stage are far richer . Only seen bits of glastonbury but there seems a lot of saving the planet nonsense going on . How's about don't hold a stupid concert in the middle of a field thus using less of Earth's finite recources ?
My favorite part of Glastonbury was in 2017 "Look at the wall that surrounds us, there is a message on the wall for Donald Trump and it says "Build bridges, not walls"" - Jeremy Corbyn HAHAHAHAHAAHA
Based on how in demand tickets are and how quickly they sell out, I’d say hundreds of thousands still bother with it. 200,000 tickets in 21 minutes wasn’t it?
And that’s absolutely fine. I’m sure Glastonbury will survive without you and I’m sure there’s things you do and go to that you’d never get me at. That’s half the fun of life surely?
To be fair it's incredible. I personally wouldn't go year in year out, but I genuinely think it's something everyone should try to do once. What you see on the TV isn't anywhere close to what it's really like. It's like a city. Like nothing else I've ever seen.
For one week in June, it is the biggest population concentration in the UK southwest of Bristol. Having done it 3 times when I was younger, I loved it at the time, but now I'm (a lot) older, I'm not doing those toilets again!
That wasn't my point. I was wondering how many don't go any more, not how many clearly do. It's obviously more successful. The demographic who go to it has completely changed though. Some people grumble it's too middle class now. Some people grumble too many mainstream performers are involved. Jesus wept, it was obvious what I meant.
Yeah it can be hard work, no doubt about it. I'm used to festivals where it's 5 mins between stages. At Glasto it's physically impossible to get between some stages in under 30 minutes.
Have you seen photos of what was left behind this year? A million times better than previous years. Definite shift in attitude towards that
Like everything in life people stop going and new people attend. That’s just how it is. Wasn’t obvious what you meant at all mate. Don’t really get the mainstream argument to be honest unless you’re comparing to decades ago, and it doesn’t feel middle class when you’re there in the slightest. But that will only come from experiencing it and everyone will have a different view.
I think this was the first year that single use plastic was not sold so definitely a step in the right direction but there were still loads just left behind by some who like to take the moral high ground over their green credentials. Loads of tents and other cr@p just dumped too. I can't really comment on previous years but it seems like the biggest shift in attitude has been from the organisers rather than some who attended.
