Can see him being similar to Marley Watkins if he goes. More cash in the bank account but not the regular Football he's grown accustomed to and won't be as settled so will soon realise he was happier with us.
Keep hearing that he is league1 level , may struggle at championship level etc. If this is the case why should Bristol City , Millwall etc want him.? Sorry but it does not add up , or are we just softening the blow for what seems his probable /possible departure.?
Will be a real shame if he goes. The response he got when coming back from his injury was great. Unless we need the money to bring new lad in we really should be holding on to him then sell him in summer if he wont sign a new contract a la pinnock....
Well, personally I think he's more of a target man/striker, he misses too many chances to be an out and out striker. I really like him though and would hate him to leave. Its only supposition by fans that we are going to let him go though so lets wait and see. As for Bristol City the limits of Little Lee's imagination seems to be lets see who Barnsley have got that might be worth bidding on, so again lets wait and see. As for loyalty I think we have seen how far that stretches with players so if it cuts both ways they can hardly complain.
Gutted if he leaves. I don’t get some comments I’ve read about him not been good enough for the championship when he looked perfectly fine in the championship for us 18 months ago. Him & Mowatt are the two in the squad who I’d got no doubts about at all. Comfortably good enough. We’ll have to adapt next season, we won’t have better technical players than many of the teams we play so we won’t be able to outplay many sides & we won’t be able to press to the same extent as better players will pick us off & we’ll be hit on the counter more by faster & more clinical forwards. So having someone like Moore who can hold the ball up effectively is a great plan B.
I've not commented on the comings and goings so far really. I'm disappointed to lose some of our best players from last season but encouraged that we have made swift and talented replacements. And I'll judge the dealings in total come the close of the window and a few games of actually seeing what we have. However, I do think selling Moore would be a huge, backward step unless he is replaced like-for-like. Throughout my time watching us we have only rarely had a big bloke up front with the ability to worry the opposition defenders and put a few away as well. Kieffer is deceptively quick and creates as well. Think of how long we have 'gone between drinks' in this position after the relatively brief Aylott, Wilkinson, Shipperley (all successful) spells. And, if this Kone lad comes (which would be great, don't get me wrong) at 5 foot 9 he is hardly a replacement for Kieffer. Selling Kieffer without direct replacement would also reduce Cauley's effectiveness as Woodrow isn't a target man and was far more comfortable playing alongside Moore last season. Ask any Championship Manager and they will tell you that four requisite standard strikers are the minimum. Think how badly Rotherham fared last season when they only had two strikers for most of the season. Getting Kone and keeping Moore would take us to three and I think the fourth should then be a further Kieffer type for Kone and Woodrow to play off if Moore is out for any reason. Just having Cauley and Kone would leave us way too thin up front and totally one-dimensional imho.
We have waited for years to have a striker like Kieffer who holds the ball up & takes pressure off our defence - he is difficult for defenders to play against. For such a tall man, he is good on the floor as well as in the air & deceptively quick. All I would say is to cast your minds back to Bradshaw up front who couldn’t shield the ball & hold it up - too small to get on the end of lots of Hammills crosses - not his fault but we need to retain Kieffer !
League one level, my arse. Lad was promoted as probably the best striker in the division.. What does that tell you? It's not hard to work out..
I totally agree, missed, but not un- replaceable, footballers are assets, assets are sold and bought. C.O.Y.R. roll on August.
Really hope he stays, been a good player for us and a huge part of the success of last season. However if he actually wants to leave I would say get the best fee we can and let him go. If he stays we still need another forward, if he goes we need 2. Hope we have learned from last season gamble that very nearly cost us promotion. Unless of course Stendel thinks Miller is upto the task, I have my doubts given his poor return at Bradford, but I'm sure Stendel knows better than me.
No, I said 'requisite standard' - Miller couldn't do it against League One teams last season. By your logic, I'd include Victor and job's a good 'un - except it's not - would you really want to a front two of Miller and Victor in the Championship? This type of view that just because we have a body then they're good enough baffles me.
Tbf we ve not seen Miller play yet! I take your point though and hope we only sell big Keef if we've someone at least as good signed up.
I know we like to do undisclosed fees, but this is a first for an undisclosed actual transfer.... where’s he off to?
