It was an accusation levelled at Pinnock and it's being aimed at Moore now too.

The lads that performed so well on Saturday don't want to play for Barnsley any more than Pinnock and Moore. That's not to say they dislike playing for Barnsley, but neither did Pinnock or Moore. You could tell this by the monumental effort the pair of them put in last season when they played a huge part in our promotion.

The difference between Pinnock and Moore? Barnsley have accepted a bid from another club that have offered these two considerably higher wages than what we can afford /are prepared to pay. If we accepted a bid for any player from Saturday's squad and they were offered the wages Pinnock and Moore have been offered then they would all leave. Every man Jack of them.

That is the only difference. Pinnock and Moore have been offered a lot more money to leave and the current squad haven't. When /if they are they will go.

This is not a criticism of the current squad or the players who have left. It just is. Occasionally you'll get a player who breaks the mould, like Bobby or Bruce, but they're few and far between.

The romantic notion that the current squad want to play for us and those that left don't is just that.

I wish we could have brought Moore on after 65 minutes on Saturday. I believe we would have won more handsomely had we done so. Woodrow is the better finisher but Moore creates more and I reckon he would have been ideal when we were hitting them on the break.

£4 million is a lot of money, if that's what we've been offered, but it's not worth as much as Championship survival and there's no reason we won't be able to command the same fee next summer.

Celebrating the departure of a good player is bizarre to me. Criticising him is beyond me. I wish the club would reconsider and refuse the offer. We'll win more games and amass more points if we do and that's what supporting a football team is about.

Football club supporting isn’t rational. Your logical argument, taken further, would result in no-one turning up on Saturday as we’d quickly realise that selling our best players and keeping the worst ones is a fools errand.

We don’t want to believe that Kieffers choice of new club is a transactional one. We all want to believe this is a result of his addled brain after his head injury. Wigan?

I just got this feeling that Stendel didn’t fancy Moore in the championship.

I've heard that from a few people. I'm not saying you're wrong, I don't know, but it would surprise me greatly.

Well, there certainly needs to be a central striker replacing him.

Maybe the more accurate statement would be. "I don't want players who have been forced to stay"

It’s just a fact that no player wants to be here. That’s just daft sentimentality. They are here to do a job and if they do it as well as they can then they should always have our support.

It’s proper strange where this idea’s come from that Stendel doesn’t rate Moore.

People are even making out that he can’t fit a 4-2-3-1 even though he played as a lone striker when we were scoring goals for fun whilst Woodrow was injured early last season.

Even if for some bizarre reason you think Moore can only play in a front 2 surely these fans realise that we’ll be playing that a fair bit this season too seen as we played 4-4-2 for the last half hour Saturday?

Spot on Jay. I wish nothing but good luck to him (other than playing us). He gave his all when he was here so fair play.

90% of our squad were signed from elsewhere with no affiliation to Barnsley. They left the clubs they were at (like Moore himself) so we shouldn’t be surprised he’s left us.

I have to say that I’d much rather have him in our team than him playing against us. He will cause everyone problems and we are now short of different option to what we’ve got.

Don't talk crap. I know for a fact that as soon as he signed Wilks had "Y" tattooed on his left cheek and "u Reds" on the right so that when he scores the winner at Hillsborough he can drop his keks in front of the home end and bend over

If it's the £2.5million that's been reported it makes no sense. As OP says, we could've got that fee next summer. I've seen people saying he'll be too old to make money on at 28 but in that case, good. We could keep an excellent footballer.

    We've strengthened a rival.

Subtract what we paid for him, Ipswich's sell-on fee and the cost of signing a replacement within 3 days and we have made £0 from Kieffer Moore.

Tbf he is one who didnt want to sign for us and wanted to stay at Leeds. Only came here due to constant harassment in his own words.

I'm not so sure about that. Football clubs are just workplaces when it comes down to it - some will be nice and some won't. I get the impression that ours is one of the good ones, but who knows if that's really true.

I'm not sure. As pointed out in another post, we can now make the olive bar a reality. Surely that's worth more than any central striker?

My thoughts exactly. Which is why, surely, the fee must be closer to £4 million. Less just makes no sense whatsoever.

There does appear to be very little " loyalty" in today's game. Having said that, with the
amounts of money players can now demand, given the average length of a career, you
can't really blame any player for making as much as they can, where they can, when
    they can.

I believe that Moores parting comments are genuine and like Hourihane, probably Davies
and to a lesser extent Pinnock, they will always look back with affection on their time at
Oakwell whilst being sufficiently honest to admit, that the overriding factor in their departure was simply
down to the money they were offered to play elsewhere.

So did we not want to risk him not cutting it in the Championship and as such his value going down.
Or did Moore not want to risk the same thing with his potential earnings never being as high again?
My guess is a bit of both. Both club and player cashing in while the stock is high. It may go higher, it may not. That's the gamble.
