And effort was 100% Very disappointed by Thiam Halme had a great game, pity about the penalty. We had a nailed on cast iron penalty right in front of the referee just 2 minutes earlier. He bottled it.
I thought Phillips manhandled Wilks on a few occasions when we had corners. Refs were instructed to look out for incidents like that at the World Cup, and penalties were given. It seems to have now been completely forgotten about.
I keep banging on about the fact that we never get given penalties and the opposition get soft ones - it happens far too often It happend against Charlton too we had a solid handball turned down and Charlton got given a pen we would never get - though that was more of one than todays But yes almost all our players played well - Thiam stood out as the biggest failure we need to score some goals though - if we cant start taking chances we are in trouble
There were enough good individual performances today to give me confidence for the future when they all start to gel. Wilkes was a handful all afternoon, but you could see he was desperate to score against his old club and that desire led to him shooting on more than one occasion when there was someone waiting to tap in. Sibbick looked really good in midfield, and Halme looked solid most of the time. On Thiam, I don't think he has enough of an upside to cover his faults, and was disappointed to even see him put on after his recent "performances"...
We don’t get penalties. Someone will come on and say ‘oh, it evens itself out’. No it doesn’t. We just don’t get penalties.
Pleased with today's performance. Williams was poor and Cavare did a few daft things but thought the majority played very well. Brown was excellent and surprised he didn't get motm. Keep playing like that and we'll be fine.
I thought we were excellent today and I've come out a bit gutted for the lads because they didn't deserve to lose that.
I tend to agree. Cavare is not without moments of complete madness, but I think he does enough at other times to allow for them. I'm starting to wonder if Thiam does. I too was very encouraged by the performance. Seeing Jacob Brown back on the field was a big plus. I thought a number of the new players had their best game for us. Mowatt was back to his best and Woodrow looked stronger and better able to hold up the ball than he has before. A few had stamina issues today having been out injured and/or not being used to the game being played at such a fast pace. Leeds are a huge improvement on anything we faced last season. We need some goals though. After seeing us today, I do think they'll come.
We haven't had one at Oakwell in the championship since October 2016. Which must be over 40 home games. I haven't counted but the away teams must have had a dozen. It's utter bullsh1t.
Mowatt MoM for me closely followed by Halme and Sibbick. We did our usual Championship thing of running out of steam late on and dropping back too deep. Still a lot of positives to take from that game.
Williams and thomas were garbage today but everyone else were really good. Brown looked good on his 1st game back. All 3 subs were poor and did nothing to influence the game going forward. Dani's shot was a joke!!
Completely agree on everything that you have said. Felt we did enough today for a share of the spoils, sadly it was not to be.
