So nice of the club to thank Daniel in that statement as well. Would it have required lawyers to have okayed that?
Really not sure which bit of ‘standard holding statement’ and a statement will follow is hard to understand. The minute they deviate from it, it is no longer a standard statement
I think it would be perfectly possible regardless of whether it is a holding statement or not to thank Daniel for the work he has done and wish him well for the future. For Reference see Sunderland statement re Jack Ross.
The PR sucks....they are extremley nieve to believe they wouldnt be a backlash from the fans (stakeholders of this club). They behave in a way that is not consistant with professional business people. Even if they do not wish to thank him for his efforts (a no brainer) then try the empathy card with something along the lines of. "We can assure our loyal fan base we will be applying ourselves to announce a successor shortly....and will announce further news when we are in a position to do so".
Are they relevantly though? Have they left under same circumstances? Had JR and Sunderland agreed terms already, had DS & BFC? What if JR has accepted what they offered (or deep down wanted to leave) and DS doesn’t so won’t accept? Too many variables until facts are known. Don’t understand why people are in such a rush to see it, surely the issue is he gets one that is correct and accurate than a standard ‘thanks for everything’ now **** off
there isn’t a variable in the world that covers basic politeness. “Thanks for your work. Good luck in the future” you could manage 9 fairly trite words.
But unfortunately big businesses don’t work that way as has been explained to death now. They will be being advised to put out a non descript bland statement until further notice. Yes it would/will be great to see they recognise the work he did here, but it’s not the way it works
BFC is not a big business. It’s turnover is less than a mid sized Tesco sunderland are a far bigger business than us but can manage basic politeness. In our recent past whether we are in dispute with the relevant party or not we managed politeness
I know you are taking this track, but in the history of this club, and frankly, having seen plenty of other clubs statements, I have never seen any statement as unfitting the perceived situation as this. It doesn't use British English language, it isn't legal in tone and it isn't as has been implied a standard commonly used cut and paste basis. Its a very poorly phrased two sentence summary that creates more questions with no insight as to what goes forward. Its been extremely badly handled, and even if there are steps conducted to come to agreement or conclusion, there is nothing preventing slightly more information being shared or to have some gratitude for last season. Last season was last season and seeing as Conway gave interviews last season saying how amazing a job Stendel had done, there is no reason at all, not to state a thank for you last season alone.
Morais and his 2 sidekicks got a thank you for taking us down with a whimper..... I'll leave that theer !
No but the people who own us are and will be advised by lawyers of the same ilk. The company I worked for operated in exactly same manner and I can tell you for a fact that their lawyers would insist on an initial statement like that.
There's no suggestion in that statement that there's going to be any more communication about the matter. A holding statement would normally include some words to the effect that more details are to follow.
Like I’ve already said everyone knew he was going after the Derby game so was probably agreed in advance
If this is a standard statement issued for legal reasons, then how come this isn't the norm, how come no one can ever remember a club putting out such a terse notice before. At least one manager a month gets the sack, are u trying to say that they all knew it was coming, that all those dismissals were amicable and terms agreed before hand? It's not, by definition, a standard holding statement within football business circles, because if it was, us and the media wouldn't all be saying, what's gone off there then! There is nothing legally detrimental or prejudicial to any future proceedings by tacking on a thanks for your achievements last season to that statement.
