O/T iphone help please

I am currently copying photos videos etc from my iphone to my pc using a usb cable. I've done this many times in the past.
I've copied all the photos (jpg and png files) no problem.

When I try to copy the videos (mov files) the copy seems to start and then a 'fail' notification comes on the pc screen saying that my device is not working. I

I've tried all sorts of restarts but to no avail.

Any advice would be appreciated apart from 'get an android'

Please, in very lay persons terms.

See if the same thing happens when you try to email one to yourself (over a WiFi connection, not 4G)

When I try to email it the message says may be too big and would I like to put it in a 'drop box'.? If I use this from my wife's phone then the videos appear on my photo stream on my phone. I can't then transfer them to a PC for the previous reason. :-(
